Any body try acupuncture during pregnancy?

Having back pain. Bad! Looking for some relief . I've never been to acupuncture before

Re: Any body try acupuncture during pregnancy?

  • I haven't done acupuncture but... Try a chiropractor. I saw one before pregnancy due to lower back pain and migraines since I was little and she still sees me now that I'm pregnant (just little tweaks to treatment). She does adjustments and therapeutic massage and it really helps. Been almost migraine free for 4 years. She also does acupuncture in her office so they'd know if it's safe. The great thing is my insurance covers it as wellness care so yours might too.

  • My chiropractor has been a life saver during this pregnancy.  I see her every other week, but she said toward the end we will probably switch to every week.  As far as acupuncture, at the end that can be helpful to induce labor from what I've heard.  My friend was on the verge of having to be medically induced so she did acupuncture, and she went into labor that night.

  • I've been doing acupuncture since before I got pregnant. I love it. Just make sure u go to someone familiar with prenatal acupuncture. There are certain point that can't be used while pregnant as they will induce labor. Mine helps with back pain, headaches, nausea and sinus pressure. I love getting a nap every other week
  • I did a chiropractor (a pregnancy chirocpractor) last time when I got to a point I couldn't even walk my hips were so bad. It worked amazing and in three sessions I was good to go. I'll be trying acupuncture soon if lil guy doesn't head down in the next week or two
  • I love my acupuncturist and swear by it. Great for sinus congestion, hip pain, back pain, knee pain, swelling, general well-being.... You name it!  But as PP said, go to someone familiar with prenatal acupuncture.
  • Thanks everyone
  • I had acupuncture for headaches and my cousin did for hip and back pain while pregnant. It worked great. They just avoid potentially risky locations. I also know a girl who had it done to induce her and it worked (coincident maybe but it did the job) lol. I would recommend it for sure.
