I don't think pushing too much can harm the baby. I was just in the hospital for a few nights as I have been having bloody mucus rather than an stool for almost 5 weeks and then had tons of preterm contractions. I ended up getting a sigmoidoscopy and have colitis whic the dr thought got bad enough to trigger uterine irritation. If you IBS gets bad definitely tell your dr.
I have Crohn's disease and they are watching me very close. They said having flare ups can cause problems for the baby's development. Definitely see your doctor to make sure you both are ok.
I would check with your doctor, especially if the IBS worsens. I have IBS and my doctor told me to let her know if I have any issues with it. TMI, but I try not to push too hard; getting plenty of fiber and staying well hydrated has helped a lot. Always better to check in with your doc, though, just in case.
@elissa2435 & @Eslade14 God love you, mamas, that has to be tough! DH has Crohn's and I can't imagine what you are going through. IBD can be pretty rough. Best of luck to you all.
Pushing shouldn't cause pre term labor but the flare up could cause problems. Instead of pushing try breathing through the surges and relax your bottom area. This causes less stress and allows your body to function on its own. It knows what to do so don't be scared.
