High-Risk Pregnancy

PTL risk and traveling

hi there,
I have a history of PTL, DD was 5 weeks early. Currently 27 weeks and taking weekly shots. I had a scare yesterday when I had some bloody mucus. Called the doctor and she had me come in. Cervix was closed and long but I was having regular contractions. She sent me to the hospital for additional monitoring.

I was discharged last night as the contractions weren't progressing or indicating onset labor which was good. I'm supposed to be traveling out of town 4 hours from home for my SIL's wedding today (I'm a bridesmaid). I'm hesitant to go and have gotten mixed opinions from the doctors. Hubby is going regardless. Any advice?

They didn't give me many restrictions, just stay off my feet and stay hydrated.

Re: PTL risk and traveling

  • Ouch that's a difficult one..

I would say if a doctor is telling you not to go they probably have a good reason. However I'm a bit more on the conservative side.

I have two issues that lead to PTL and was told no travel within a 3hr drive after 28 weeks. Granted I also haven't had any contractions other than BH.

I'd go with your gut on this one. Best of luck to you and hopefully your LO stays cooking for awhile!

  • I agree this is tough but I would think being a bridesmaid would equal a decent amount of time on your feet. I would not have gone but I was also 3 cm dialated and it sounds like you are not nearly that bad right now. Agree with pp go with your gut if you don't have a strong recommendation from doc. Good luck

TTC#1 May 2009- July 2010 on our own with no luck

Started with RE in August 2010, dx with unexplained IF and then finally our 3rd IUI cycle using Follistim and Trigger resulted in our wonderful little man.  Born 12/2/11

TTC#2 Never really prevented, but were careful early on as Dr. reccomended

Surprise BFP 12/16/13, started progesterone immediately as first numbers came back low, but betas were good.  Progesterone wasnt enough. Natural MC 12/24/13.

  • Sorry but it is probably for the best. Have a good Netflix binge or enjoy a good book.

  • I agree... sucks to miss it but I definitely wouldn't have gone. Things can change quickly and I'd be way too stressed and worried to enjoy the wedding.
