Severe tooth pain

This past weekend my gums on one side were a little sore. As the days went by, the pain started getting worse and I can now narrow it down to one tooth. I took a last minute appnt with my dentist. Without doing x-rays, she said everything looks fine. Tooth is healthy and gums look good. So she gave me a prescription for an antibiotic and a pain med (I had both approved through my OB). I put off filling the pain med prescription thinking I could deal with the pain. But the last 2 nights I've gotten no sleep because the pain is just too bad. So, took my first pain med a couple hours ago. I've been on the antibiotic for over 24 hours. Pain is not subsiding at all. It's awful. I'm scheduled to go to l&d tonight to start an induction. Has anyone else experienced tooth pain through your pregnancy? Did you find a way to help it? Any suggestions? I'm terrified of going into this labor tonight already in pain and exhausted from lack of sleep.

    I've had tooth pain on my bottom left for about a month. I'm scheduled at the dentist in about 3 weeks (c-section tomorrow morning) to finally get an x-ray done. Chewing raw garlic, packing it in baking soda and then pouring apple cider vinegar on it, and just avoiding chewing/putting liquids on that side are all that has worked for me. good luck!

    Are you grinding? I was waking up with horrible tooth pain and come to find out I've been grinding my teeth in my sleep. If so, you might find a night mouth guard to be helpful

    I had a severely abscessed tooth during this pregnancy.  The dr.'s assured me that taking a temporary pain med is less harmful to your baby then the stress your body is under from continuous pain.  For the first 3 days I just iced it and took tylenol.  I would rather give birth un-medicated (which I have done 3 times) then to go through that nerve pain again.  I had to have X-rays, medication and my tooth pulled.  I still hate that I have a gaping hole in the back of my mouth, but I couldn't do a root canal while pregnant!  I wish you luck and hope your antibiotic starts to kick any infection.  They put me on amoxicillan and it took many days of doses to start to work at all.

    I haven't had tooth pain but DH just had a root canal Tuesday. He rubbed a drop of clove oil on the sore area, oil pulled with a combo of coconut oil and a drop of clove oil, and he swished with listerine. We're not sure which helped but after doing all of those he was able to sleep through the night (after 3 sleepless nights). For him drinking ice water helped too.

    I have a tooth that needs a root canal, waiting until after if I can. But it flared up over July 4th weekend. It has since actually settled down again. But what seemed to help the most was icing above the affected tooth. Mine was next to front tooth, so I iced up next to and below nose. It really helped.
    The dentist told me heat would make it worse if it is an infection.

    Thank you all so much for these suggestions. I will be trying them throughout the day to see if any work. I know labor is going to be extremely painful, but something about nerve pain in your mouth is just so difficult to deal with. I am trying to keep my spirits up for LO as these are his last hours in his comfy home in my belly but the pain is really making it difficult.

    I started having gum pain on my lower jaw where I had my wisdom teeth removed 3 years ago. so I went to the dentist and they said everything looked fine but that they couldn't do x Rays till after I delivered. well since then I have had 2 more wisdom teeth growing in and now have to schedule a second surgery for sometime in the future to get my second set of wisdom teeth removed... AGAIN! I feel ur pain! my gums are being completely ripped by these magic new teeth
