August 2015 Moms

What are you doing to pass the time?

So it's August and the FINAL countdown is upon us, if you haven't already been blessed to meet your little one already.

What are you doing to pass the time? What are you doing to make final preparations for your little one?

I've been put on mild bed rest since my last Dr appointment since I went from no where close to dilated to 3cm in two weeks. I am starting to go stir crazy! I've gotten mine and his bags ready to go, nursery is done, books all read now I just wait for him to make his appearance.

Re: What are you doing to pass the time?

  • Some days I am a total couch potato and do nothing but play on my phone most of the day. Other days I try to keep busy with little things like cleaning or trying to get last minute things done for baby. Or making lists of what all I still need lol. Luckily today hubby took me to Walmart so I could get a few things for postpartum and for baby. Yay!

  • Cleaning and organizing, seems like there is more to do every day. Also guilty of being a couch potato some days! Other days I draw or paint, read, take my dog to the park
  • I was due yesterday and have been going stir crazy for sure lol. I spent 9 months counting the days and while this is my 3rd and knew babies don't come on their due date.. I still can't help but be disappointed she isn't here yet! I've spent the past few days on my couch with Netflix lol. I had been trying to stay active and take walks but I've almost given up she's going to come on her own! August 18th I will be 42 weeks and won't do an induction until then unless my midwife thinks it's Necessary. .
  • I haven't been sleeping well the past few nights cause I can't get comfortable and when I finally do of course I have to get up and go pee. So today I too was guilty of being a couch potato and watching black and white movies and napping.

  • Netflix, hang out with dd. My husband has vacation so its really nice to have him around. My sil is also in town so we been out like to the zoo or pool. Keeping busy.

  • @chelsdeann26 wow!! I hope I have your patience when the time comes for me to wait! I told my husband at my last dr appointment I know little man will wait til last minute to arrive next thing I know I'm 3cm and Dr says no way you're traveling. I've had to cancel all my business trips and I'm going crazy.
  • Spending a lot of time outdoors with DS, cleaning, prepping for baby, lunch dates, ect. I refuse to let myself be "bored". Every day I pretty much have some sort of plan.

    This...

When I've got my toddler with me, I try and get one or two things done around the house to keep it tidy or prepare for baby, otherwise I'm just hanging with her.

I have had two child-free days a week since starting maternity leave - which are awesome - in which I try to have my mornings booked solid with running errands, stocking up on baby and toddler stuff, and coffee/lunch dates, then spend the afternoon resting, watching TV, reading and preparing a meal for my poor neglected DH (haven't been cooking much lately due to my negligible appetite). I'm hoping to try and squeeze in a solo movie date next week (if I'm still pregnant) to see the new Amy Schumer movie :)

  • I try to have an activity for each day as well. I'm still reading vigorously (borrowing several books from the library a week), staying active in my clubs with plans to do a speech competition before the end of the month, having phone dates during the day with friends, making curtains, cleaning, baking, have dinner get togethers with friends, and have a goal everyday to get 10,000 steps in.

My preparations for the baby are done, I am just trying to keep up with the housework now so we can come back to a clean house.

  • Trying to keep my house clean. We are having a lot of house guests once LO is here and I want my house presentable. I finished the nursery this week. I do yoga and this week I basically decided to embrace the 'boredom'. And by that I mean enjoy the time I have to myself because pretty soon I'll never be alone again. I've been replaying a lot of my fav video games lol. I start school a week after my due date so pretty soon I'll be so busy I think I'll miss being bored lol.
  • I bought a ball and I bounce around on it. It's fun and more comfortable than the couch to sit on !

Working :( and taking care of DS
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

  • I give myself one or two tasks every day to get done. Usually one inside the house and one outside. Just to keep me moving. Although to be honest I spend a lot of time mostly on the couch with Hulu and Netflix. Everything is mostly done. So I'm just casually passing time until Monday (induction day)
  • I have been half-heartedly working from home, taking a lot of naps, reading, imagining I am having contractions, and going to three year olds' birthday parties every single weekend.

  • This is my first week off! I spent the day Monday with my sister and nephew, Tuesday I cleaned, made freezer meals and went to the county fair with my husband and some friends, yesterday I cleaned, made more freezer meals, Went grocery shopping with my husband and picked a bushel of tomatoes from my garden that I plan to can today. Have a birthday party to go to this evening. Staying decently busy. My nursery is ready and my bags are packed. Please don't be too late baby boy!!! [-O<
  • It's hard to keep busy throughout the day because I wake up around 5:30/6a everyday and do a lot before 10am...but I read, go for walks, take care of household things, shop and then around 4pm I might resort to turning on the TV. Although I have to say watching TV makes me more tired so I try to refrain as much as possible.
  • Sleeping in, trying to keep the house clean and enjoying the last few days of having time to myself and with my SO. We've been doing the whole, be a tourist in your own town type of thing which is fun. I've also been going to the neighborhood pool and talking to my parents 3x a day because they need to know how I'm feeling and remind me to call them if I go into labor before my induction next week (like I would forget to tell them).
  • We are in the last day of a full bathroom remodel that's gone 8 days longer than it should. I'm 38+4 and have family arriving tomorrow. I need to clean still and put everything away that was placed in the nursery.. Needless to say it's been stressful and will make for a heck of a story once LO arrives.
  • Keeping up with household chores and cleaning. Watching tv shows on Netflix. Bumping and Facebooking. I'm still going to social outings as well since I feel great! Bible studies also.
  • Trying to do something fun out of the house with the kids everyday whether it's the zoo, aquarium, pool, library, park, kids museum. I won't be leaving the house much with 3 except for preschool pick up and drop off. DS is a runner so I think we will stay home for a while after baby comes.

  • I swim every single day at my parents place. I also enjoy gardening, being outside, even went to the beach the other day and had a nice walk. I must admit I am a bit afraid of going into stores and my water breaking so I mainly stick around the house and other familiar places.
