Heartbeat..train or horse?

i just heard recently that (supposedly) if you're having a boy, the heartbeat sounds like a steam engine/train and a girls heartbeat sounds like a galloping horse.

Has this been true for anyone? Our baby's has sounded like a train at both heartbeat appt's, and we find out in less than a week what we're having :)

    Both my kiddos sounded like trains. Baby #1 is DS, and baby #2 will be a girl. Unless she comes out with a penis then she was hiding really well with her legs wide open at the AT scan. :))

    Mine sounded like galloping and it's a boy! The heartbeat was in the 160s then 150s. Last u/s 140s. You never know. I hope the days pass quickly to when you find out! :)

    My baby sounded like a galloping horse. It's a boy. You can't always go off of the old wives tales.

    ETA: you will always have a 50/50 chance.

    I wouldn't categorize my son's heartbeat as either. To me, it was a faster woosh-woosh sound than my own heart. I've had a few echoes and know what mine sounds like on US and his was the same, just faster

    I know it's 50/50 lol :) I was just having fun seeing what stuff for me would come up as. We're hoping more for a boy. My husband said he wanted a girl first (past relationship) and got one now wants a boy bc girls can be so whiny. I just don't want to deal with a miss priss. I grew up a tomboy so I told him it's all in how they're raised.

    @leek71983 thanks! Less than a week now (5 days to be exact☺️) :) I haven't had any ultrasounds yet, just two heartbeat appt's that were both 150s (didn't give an exact number) and last one, the NP told me there was lots of movement.

    To me it just sounds like a heartbeat? I guess any heartbeat could be subjectively interpreted to sound like either of those things based on the listener.

    We found out we are having a boy :D His heartbeat sounded like a little choo choo train and his heartbeat was 160, then 151, and yesterday he was 143 and the US tech said that was nice and strong. I think some of the old wives tales are very fun to check and see. Most were true for me.

    My first 2 boys were definatly steam trains, this time sounded exactly like galloping horses! And im having another boy

    My 2 girls just sounded like faster heartbeats. This baby is a boy & his heartbeat definitely sounded like a train. :)
