Where do you buy your maternity clothes?

DH and I are going on vacation at the end of the month. I wanted to dress semi-dressy for one of the events we are attending. Plus I wanted to purchase a couple of pairs of shorts and tanks since we will be sight seeing and the heat is going to be unbearable. I have maternity clothes already and pretty much shop at Old Navy because they usually have good deals.  I get online today and found some cute stuff but none of it was in my size. In fact, the clothing that came in my size, would pretty much look like a potato sack on me. I'm 5'1, busty, curvy, and I'm carrying in my hips. Clothes that just drape over me are not gonna work! Where do you ladies shop and get the best deals?

  • Thredup.com   is an awesome online consignment shop!
  • I agree with millereliz13. I bought the basic things at motherhood, and then I bought some extra things at target online bc everything at the store wasn't in my size, I wear a 2xl. I am currently on vaca now and it's ungodly hot here! I also bought a cute bathing suit on targets website. Fits like a glove
  • I get a lot of mine at Ross.  I love their prices and do not have a lot of options nearby.

Mostly Target, Old Navy, H&M, and ASOS for fancier things. I'm still able to get by with a lot of A-line or empire waist summer dresses in my regular size that aren't fitted in the waist and hips. For shorts and tanks I'd definitely check Old Navy :)

PS: Every store has an infinitely better selection online than in-store. The Old Navy in my area has one measly rack of maternity clothes, but online is cray.

I went to both Destination Maternity and Motherhood Maternity and didn't buy a single thing. So not my style. Instead, I bought nicer basics (jeans and 4 neutral-colored ribbed tanks) from Pea in the Pod, and everything less timeless (a few t-shirts in more trendy cuts and sleeveless sheath cotton dresses) and a workout top/yoga pants from Target. I also bought Jean shorts from PinkBlush's online store, and I love them. They were true to pre-prego size.
  • I've had great luck so far with dresses from Pink Blush.  They have free shipping and really cheap 2 day shipping too.

Pink Blush Maternity has great items that are very reasonably priced - especially for vacation!

Edit: If you search 'Pink Blush' you will get a website that you don't necessarily want or expect. Here is the site you want: https://www.pinkblushmaternity.com/
  • Swap.com and pink blush maternity
  • Oh and pink blush always has some type of coupon. Check their fb, or sign up for emails.
  • OLD NAVY! They are the BEST! Thats literally the only place I've gotten anything...such good deals too like $10 dresses! Never spent more than $17 on an item, but then again, I strictly shop clearance online ;) got some cute jeans and sweaters too that were "last season" for oh, you know, less than $5!
  • Macy's! They carry pea in the pod, Jessica Simpson and some motherhood stuff. I like to try things on before I buy instead of ordering and returning. You can use destination maternity gift cards there too!
  • I thrift shop at goodwill, Salvation Army, and garage sales. This momma ain't gonna pay full price for nothin!!!
  • I have shopped at Destination Maternity and Burlington Coat Factory
  • Someone posted on here a while back about an awesome sale Kohl's was having and i was happy with nearly every maternity item I bought there. I am not normally a Kohl's shipper, nor am I normally a fan of their non-maternity clothing, so that was a very pleasant surprise!

I have been underwhelmed with Target.

I had great success with Pink Blush dresses.

Most of my stuff comes from Destination Maternity. I try to only shop when they have sales (which is fairly frequently).
  • Asos has really pretty maternity dresses.
  • Destination maternity
  • It's a bit pricey, but if you're looking for something really special, try HelloFoxyMama.com - it's a personal shopping website. You fill out some info re: size and what you're looking for and they send you a box with a couple of designer/boutique items to try. You can send back whatever you don't like and only pay a small fee. I got two dresses in my box that I love and I get lots of compliments on both. Good luck!
  • Thanks everyone! I'll check these places out :)
  • I really love Isabella Oliver
  • They don't have dressy stuff, but I had good luck finding cheap shorts at Ross. And ditto Destination Maternity. I was avoiding going there because I thought it would be way too expensive, but they have a good clearance section and sales. I found some very cute dresses there for around $25.
  • I had only bought from garage sales, consignment stores, and target. But I just went to Kohls this week and found a pair of denim shorts and a pair of denim capri's for 60% off....only paid $16.99 for each! They are by far my favorite they have bought so far! They fit so well! They don't look baggy (my husband even commented on how nice they make my butt look!). The panel stays up nicely (the capris have a full panel and the shorts have a low panel)! They actually make me feel sexy and the closest to how I used to feel in pre-pregnancy clothes! Best $30 spent!
  • I picked up some black slacks for work at Motherhood Maternity and Gap. Gap has some nicer things if you can find a store near you that also carries maternity (most likely if there's a Baby Gap they'll have maternity). I also got shorts and a pair of jeans at Gap as well. For regular shirts, I got most at Target but some at Kohls, and just ordered a few from JCPenney online (they don't carry maternity in-store sadly). Ordered a swimsuit from Motherhood Maternity - I like one-pieces and didn't want anything with a halter top or strapless because my chest is not supported enough normally, much less now. I think I paid like $25 for it - couldn't beat that!
  • I'm on vacation right now! At the beginning of my pregnancy (about 12 weeks ) I went to A Pea in The Pod and got some basic staples that cost a small fortune but made me feel good. Before we left for our trip I went back and ALL of the summer stuff was on sale for at least 40% off and buy one get one for $5 on top of that.
I got 2 dresses, a pair of shorts, a pair of cropped pants,a sweater and 4 tank tops for $150. All designer stuff .I kid you not.
  • I got some comfy shorts at Target! Fairly good price too :)
  • I haven't really bought maternity clothes as I haven't needed them, but empire waisting with A-line skirts, ruching, and stretch fabrics have been my friend. I've bought quite a few things on amazon. For pants, I just use a bella band (the one with the silicone strip on it) over unbuttoned/unzipped pants. I do like the Jessica Simpson maternity line, but I find most "maternity" clothing to be really unflattering- unflattering to boobs, unflattering to face, unflattering to bump, and wtf is with all the horizontal stripes?!?!?

Venus has some very forgiving styles, and I've found the spandex tube dress in the attached photo to be a classy summer favorite (I've been wearing it since week 29, i'm currently 32 weeks) I'm 5'6" currently 140lbs and have always had hips. I bought the tube dress in a medium, but probably could have bought a small. It definitely accommodates the bump.

  • EllioCor cute dress!

I have to add that I wish I had known about Destination Maternity sooner! Confession of a Shopaholic: I bought 4 nursing bras, a dress, 2 tops, and I'm debating on going back for a pair of shorts... what DH doesn't know won't kill him...or me ;)

Oh man, I'm so with you on the horizontal stripes! Why would anyone think a pregnant woman wants horizontal stripes?!
  • This is a really stupid question probably but are destination maternity and motherhood maternity the same thing? There websites look alike to me and I'm not sure now

I think they're owned by the same company.
  • I love Pink blush! I have bought a few tanks from Target, and I splurged on a dress for my brothers wedding at fillyboo.
  • I shop at Ross too! Nice maternity clothes for a good price! Also I usually don't buy clothing from Walmart, But walmart.com has a maternity section and it has pretty much everything for good prices
  • Pink blush (for dressier), old navy, kohls, gap, target and motherhood. Mostly soft stretchy things and online has better selection for sure.
