So I am feeling terrible bc pedi can't even figure out what is going on with LO and she is in so much pain... Every time she eats she will only do about an ounce and begin to hysterically cry even if she has burped and continue to cry for hours. They thought gas so I changed bottles, burped more often and did gripe water...none made a difference except I do feel the gripe water may have calmed her down a little a couple times but nothing to be brag about. So then doc put her on ranitidine which she started yesterday morning at 1 ml 2x a day so she has had 4 doses so far. Although yesterday seemed like an improvement today she screamed for 3 hours straight after only being able to eat an oz at her 4 pm feeding. I am so exhausted and feel like a failure since I can't figure it out..when she eats I can hear her gulping and then can hear and feel the food actually hitting her stomach causing her stomach to gurgle.
Anyone else have any issues like this? Should I be giving ranitidine more time to work? Probiotics? Soy? Any suggestions...at this point I'm desperate!
Re: Any advice? Please!
Edit to add: My l/o was like this when I gave her Gerber formula. I switched her to Similiac and she has been great. Good luck!
I am an avid lurker and haven't posted anything since the beginning of pregnancy but your story sounded so much like mine that I had to respond. My pedi tested my lo for blood in his stool which came back positive so hence he had a milk/soy allergy. She put him on similac alimentum and it made a difference. I use the rtf version because he tolerate it better than the powder form. I also breastfeed so I cut out all dairy/soy from my diet. He is much better now and added with the reflux med he is a happy baby with occasional fussing when he is tired or hungry. I hope this helps...
**I tried editing my name but having difficulty changing it****
Oh and the other thing is that at nighttime she is way better like it's rare if it bothers her? Isn't that strange? That why I think it's related to the gulping bc at night she doesn't do it.
Guess i will give the Zantac more time i just feel like I'm torturing her
Silk almond milk is a life saver, especially the dark chocolate version because it is near to impossible to find anything chocolate without dairy in it. I also make my morning oatmeal with the vanilla almond milk. If you live near a trader Joe's, they have really good ice cream made of coconut milk. I also got some from Walmart but the TJs version was better. Good luck!
Give the meds time to work, keep her upright after feedings or supervised on her tummy, and do small frequent feedings. Maybe just 1 oz at a time.
