17 weeks and I'm still tired

this is crazy, I used to run marathons and I wouldn't be this tired. Is anyone else still really tired. I'm having 9-10 hours of sleep each night and on weekends about 11 hours.

Re: 17 weeks and I'm still tired

  • I'm 15 weeks and still can take a two hour nap, easily everyday. It usually hits me around 1-2pm when I feel like I need to go nap for a couple of hours. I was looking forward to getting my energy back in the 2nd tri. But I'm not sure that's going to happen. Most women that I've talked to, said they wet exhausted the entire 9 months and that if I'm tired, sleep or at least put my feet up and relax.

  • I'm the same way (minus running the marathons part). I have to have some kind of caffeine in the afternoon or I'm a complete zombie :(

  • Not gonna lie.... Im a little jealous of how much sleep you are getting.

But I'm right there with you. I keep waiting for the 2nd tri energy but think it's not going to come this time around with a toddler to run after.
  • You're probably going to be tired for the next 2 years. I know when I got in my 3rd trimester I was tired all the time.
  • I read this factoid somewhere that as a pregnant woman, our body is basically operating on full workout mode at all times, and never fully enters a resting stage (metabolically, not heart rate). Anytime DH wants me to do something slightly strenuous I always tell him I'm getting a full days workout growing his child, and he can do it himself. ;)
  • I swear I had more energy with a newborn than I had when I was pregnant. I totally understand.
  • My 2nd trimester energy kicked in right at week 14. I'm now in week 16. Every once in a while I have an off day where I feel exhausted but mainly my energy is great.
  • Yes! I'm tired ALL the time! Literally ALL.THE.TIME. I kind of had myself a pity party today just wanting my old energy back and wondering if I'll ever go back to normal even when baby comes lol ohhhh these hormones
  • i'm in my 15th week, i'm tired all the time too. i don't get solid sleep. I hardly fall into REM sleep mode. It's why we can remember our wild dreams. Plus getting up to pee on average twice a night. urgh.    I wish I could be in a coma for a weekend.

  • Make sure your doctor is checking your thyroid levels when he does blood tests. Mine went through the roof and caused extreme fatigue. Apparently thyroid issues are not uncommon during pregnancy.
