Baby needs to be constantly moving to stay asleep?

Hi ladies,

I was wondering if anyone has gone through this issue and resolved it. So LO sleeps very well when she is sleeping in her automatic swing but will not sleep in crib or if I sleep with her next to me she sleeps but eventually gets very restless and I've finally figured out she needs the swinging movement to stay asleep.. But I need her in her own room even my midwife that visits us every fortnight has no more ideas as to what we should do.. We wrap her, put her down when she is completely asleep, tried when she's almost asleep as midwife advised, we pat her when she's down I can't figure out how we are going to get her off needing the swinging motion .. I tried once with music but I might try again tonight

Re: Baby needs to be constantly moving to stay asleep?

  • We have a similar issue. Ours sleeps in an automatic rocking bassinet and will only fall asleep if it's rocking. Once she's down I'll try lowering the settings one at a time until she's stopped. If lucky she'll stay asleep, but other times we have to leave it on all night. I guess I don't have much helpful advice since I haven't figured it out either, but there are others in the same boat!

  • Well at least I know I'm not alone :)
  • I know this probably isn't the advice you want to hear but with my LO I just had to wait patiently until she was ready. I slept in a lazy boy recliner for 6 weeks because that is the only way she would sleep. Every night I would lay her down in bed and she would only make it an hour or less before we had to move back to the chair but then one night she just slept the whole night in my bed and continued to do so. When it was time to switch her to her crib, same thing , she just wasn't ready so I kept her in my bed for a few more weeks then gradually transitioned her to the crib and again one night she slept the whole night (930-6) and continued doing it every night after. I know that my not work for every baby but my little one is stubborn she only does what she wants when she wants haha so it's what worked for us.
  • @jgillis13 thank you for your input it helps. I've been feeling like I've been doing this wrong but she could just not be ready
  • We are in the same situation. We moved the swing into Lo's room to get him used to the room. I hear they grow out of it after a few months. Hoping it's true!!
