DH and I are going on vacation at the end of the month. I wanted to dress semi-dressy for one of the events we are attending. Plus I wanted to purchase a couple of pairs of shorts and tanks since we will be sight seeing and the heat is going to be unbearable. I have maternity clothes already and pretty much shop at Old Navy because they usually have good deals. I get online today and found some cute stuff but none of it was in my size. In fact, the clothing that came in my size, would pretty much look like a potato sack on me. I'm 5'1, busty, curvy, and I'm carrying in my hips. Clothes that just drape over me are not gonna work! Where do you ladies shop and get the best deals?
Re: Where do you buy your maternity clothes?
PS: Every store has an infinitely better selection online than in-store. The Old Navy in my area has one measly rack of maternity clothes, but online is cray.
I have been underwhelmed with Target.
I had great success with Pink Blush dresses.
Most of my stuff comes from Destination Maternity. I try to only shop when they have sales (which is fairly frequently).
I got 2 dresses, a pair of shorts, a pair of cropped pants,a sweater and 4 tank tops for $150. All designer stuff .I kid you not.
I haven't really bought maternity clothes as I haven't needed them, but empire waisting with A-line skirts, ruching, and stretch fabrics have been my friend. I've bought quite a few things on amazon. For pants, I just use a bella band (the one with the silicone strip on it) over unbuttoned/unzipped pants. I do like the Jessica Simpson maternity line, but I find most "maternity" clothing to be really unflattering- unflattering to boobs, unflattering to face, unflattering to bump, and wtf is with all the horizontal stripes?!?!?
Venus has some very forgiving styles, and I've found the spandex tube dress in the attached photo to be a classy summer favorite (I've been wearing it since week 29, i'm currently 32 weeks) I'm 5'6" currently 140lbs and have always had hips. I bought the tube dress in a medium, but probably could have bought a small. It definitely accommodates the bump.
EllioCor cute dress!
I have to add that I wish I had known about Destination Maternity sooner! Confession of a Shopaholic: I bought 4 nursing bras, a dress, 2 tops, and I'm debating on going back for a pair of shorts... what DH doesn't know won't kill him...or me
