Rare but real names for girl

We have a common, one-syllable "B" last name so would like a longer, rare first name that is still recognizable as a "real name". Other suggestions are welcome, but avoiding "B" as the first initial.

I like all of them except for Thomasina. Helena is my favorite.

Cordelia / Cora is my favorite, but it's becoming popular in my area. If you're going for rare, I couldn't recommend it and vote for it. I voted Helena because it is my favorite of the names I don't see

I voted Helena. I also like Helen.

I see Cora on these boards a lot lately. I think it's pretty but if you're looking for less common I might reconsider. Cordelia is nms because I only think of Buffy.

Felicity is one of my favorites!  i love that it means "happiness".

I wonder if we have the same last name, mine is also common, one-syllable, starts with "B".  It's harder naming with a common last name!
Thomasina is the only one that sticks out for me as a "no", mostly because there was a disney movie in the 70s called "The Three Lives of Thomasina" about a cat that keeps coming back from the dead. and so Thomasina will always be a cat's name to me....  Would you consider just Tamsin?  It's technically a nickname, but it doesn't sound like a nickname.  It's not used very often, and I think it's a really neat name.

Ranks last year of all the names you mentioned

    Felicity - 497
    Helena - 502
    Cordelia - 993
    Theodora - 2246
Thomasina - not recorded, less then 5 girls named Thomasina.

I like all of them but Thomasina, it's just a bit of an awkward name.

    Recommend Heloise and Adamina

I voted Cordelia. I love the name but it was out for us since it rhymes with DD's name. I think it'd a beautiful, elegant name. You can always use Delia as a less common nn if Cora is more popular in your area.

You would like her better if you watched the Angel spinoff.
This. Plus, Cordelia is also a character from Shakespeare, so that's mega high brow. ;)

I voted Felicity, but I also like Cordelia and Helena.

I love the name Felicity because it means "good fortune, happiness" which I love and Theodora is pretty good too, can nickname her Thea

Felicity is my favorite but you can't go wrong with any of these- great choices! (I also LOVE Tamsin, so using it as a nn for Thomasina is lovely!)

I voted for Helena. Also would suggest Winifred.

Thanks all! Helena was actually my least favorite to start with but it is growing on me and getting a lot of love from you all!

I'm not crazy about Cordelia, something about the D sound... Loved Cora for a while til I saw it is on the rise... #78 in my state, so with the common last name I wouldn't want my kid to have a common first and last. But with Cordelia or maybe Coraline, Cora could be a nickname.

    Other suggestions very welcome!

Love Cordelia, Felicity, and Theodora! I voted Felicity since it is probably what I would be most likely to use. All are great tho!

I like Felicity best. I like Thea better as a stand alone name. If it were listed without Theodora, that would have gotten my vote.

I like Tamsin! It's not three syllables, but it's rare and cool. A few more for the pile:
    Dahlia
    Persephone
    Isolde
    Magdalena

    I like Felicity and Thea!

    Other suggestions

    Jemima
    Camilla
    Anthea
    Georgina
    Matilda
    Freya

My daughter's name is Tallulah. If our last was a girl we were going to name her Maisie.

I like Helena and Cordelia nn Cora

Please, do not name your child Thomasina! Even the nn (which doesn't make sense tO me) is terrible.

I love Cora, but do not like Cordelia at all.

I voted Felicity kind of by default. I think we just have very different tastes in names.

LOVE Helena so very much, but my DH won't go for it because it's the same as Helen and he doesn't dig that name, apparently.

Oooh, Freya's a cool name! Where's that from?

I like Felicity and Cora. I thought Tamsin was a name, not a nn. Although my only point of reference is Tamsin Sursok from Pretty Little Liars, so I could definitely be wrong.

Pretty sure it's from Norse mythology. It's awesome.
