I don't want to pump!

I don't really need to pump because I'm a SAHM, but I got the pump anyway so my husband and son could share the experience with me. Anyway, I've been avoiding it because I forgot how much I love to breastfeed! And my son only asked once when he was gonna be able to feed her a bottle and hasn't asked since, so I know I'm being a little selfish here, but I don't feel ready to share those special moments with anyone! I'll probably be ready eventually but I'm afraid it will be too late for her to take a bottle so I don't know what to do here. Should I just do it or wait until I feel ready?

Re: I don't want to pump!

  • I hear ya! I don't like to pump either but for me I'm going back to work in 4 months so I know I have to acclimate her to a bottle and be consistent. I made that mistake with my son and he wouldn't take a bottle and I had to go to work and it was terrible! My baby is almost 5 weeks and I finally bit the bullet and pumped today. So, milk is in the fridge but not sure when we will try the bottle.

  • I had to pump due to oversupply. So I already have 8 bags of milk in the freezer. We haven't given a bottle yet because he's only 8 days old but maybe in a couple weeks.

  • Maybe you all can help me out with this...if I give her a bottle of pumped milk (the one I pumped today) do I need to pump that missed feeding?? I am afraid it will be a never ending cycle.
  • I am exclusively pumping and I am 3 weeks postpartum. I have an entire freezer filled with an over supply of breast milk! I still pump every 4-5 hours. I'm going back to work soon so I need as much of a supply as I can get!
  • How did you begin? I am nursing and pumping when I'm finished I would love to exclusively pump but I can't seem to figure this out- I do t know how to get started I have a small supply in my freezer and trying to pump after each feeding to try to establish a stock of milk but it's pretty difficult to do. Any suggestions would be helpful!
