Loosing the baby weight

im 3 weeks postpartum. I have lost all but 10 lbs. I made the mistake of trying on my pre pregnancy jeans the other day and got depressed when they wouldn't quite fit. This is the fattest I've ever been and I don't even want to go out in public. I had a csection so I'm not yet cleared to start working out. Sigh, this is just a rant. I'm sure some of you girls could relate and looking for support.

So I had a c/s about 3 weeks ago too (my third one actually) and I'm right about 5-7 lbs left to get to pre pregnancy but let me tell you; all of my pants are so tight in the thighs/butt I know I'll have to lose more than what I have left to fit into them. I think my uterus is still tender and somewhat swollen, the body just takes time and I've found that with each baby I get back down to a healthy weight but my actually body shape changes and my clothes never fit in the same way..

  • Dresses and maxi skirts will be your best friend :) I had a emergency csection and I that's what I wore for my recovery. Also, accessories will be your best friend. I know your body is different, but you can use accessories to make you look good ;) infinity scarves, necklaces, earrings and bags. Have fun with it. Even your shoes, go for a black outfit and wear your pink or blue shoes. And before you know it, you will be feeling like your old self :D
  • It really does take time and it's not all about the weight. I know that even when I've lost the weight previously my clothes still don't fit right for a while. You'll get there but in the meantime focus on making yourself feel pretty, whether it's makeup, perfume or a pretty necklace. Even just making sure to shower can make you feel a lot better about yourself.

Also as PP said, it took you 9 months to gain the weight, be patient and kind to yourself as you slowly recover from pregnancy and birth!
  • @PurpleBookmark I totally agree with what you said about getting a shower! It makes all the difference in the world to me right now (I week postpartum c-section)
  • 3 weeks post c section and still have 10 pounds to loose also. Haven't been cleared for exercise but have been wearing LO and taking short, non strenuous walks twice a day. You are brave, I wouldn't attempt to get my jeans back in yet. My thighs are out of control, probably wouldn't be able to get them up very far ;)
  • I'm still pregnant but I still keep up on all you post partum ladies :)

I feel as though my hips have changed too much to ever fit back into pre-pregnancy jeans (not that I'm super worried about that right now). I may end up having to sell all my old jeans and get some new ones for my new hips. Any of you ladies ever get back to your normal weight but still not fit into those old jeans?

Also you women are beautiful and 3 weeks is not a long time to get back to what would be considered "your normal". You're doing great and I hope you don't get discouraged. It will take some time so please be gentle with yourselves!
  • I'm 1 week pp and back down to pre pregnancy weight... Which I did not expect at all. That means baby was nearly half of my weight gain (8lb7!). But I think it's because I lost a lot of muscle - I'm a lot softer / flabbier now. Definitely went on my thighs too so bottom half I can't get into some pants
  • I think you all sound like you're doing amazing! This is my second baby and I'm 5 weeks postpartum with a few pounds left to lose. I just now am starting to work out again during my toddler's naptime (when baby allows) because my jeans are TIGHT! Haha. I never fully regained muscle tone after my first so this time I'm putting tnge effort in : )
