October 2015 Moms

Amazon Registry Welcome Box

I just logged in to check on my registry and noticed that the welcome box was available if I finished the jumpstart selections. You can mark them as complete even if you don't add items. I saw other ladies got theirs a long time ago but I never was eligible (or so I thought) because my prime membership is a student membership. I just wanted to let you guys know to check it out in case this is something Amazon has changed and is now making available to more members.

Re: Amazon Registry Welcome Box

  • Thanks for the post...i just checked everything off, and ordered my welcome box! I would've had no idea! I'm guessing it is a bunch of samples?
  • Loading the player...
  • I *just* discovered that today too. I've already gotten a lot of stuff outside amazon so I got to check it all off without adding it to the registry. However! I did find out that if you are not the primary accountholder for Prime, don't sign up for Amazon Mom because they'll charge you $100. So after a long phone call with Amazon about a mysterious charge (when I signed up it *never* said anything about the primary accountholder or whatever so it was weird to see a charge on the cc bill), my husband had to put Amazon Mom on his account.
  • Awesome!! Thank you!
  • From the reviews that's what it sounds like but we will see! The reviews from March show some travel size shampoo and conditioner samples that I'm hoping come in mine for my hospital bag!

How do you mark them as complete without adding them?

EDIT: Figured it out immediately after asking :-)

  • Yay I finally was able to get one, too!

  • Thank you! I was bummed that I didn't get a welcome box when I made my registry but I was just able to order it! Yay for free stuff!
  • Do you have to be an Amazon mom member? The last time I checked the welcome box was just for people with registries who are also with Amazon mom, but maybe it changed?

I do not have an Amazon mom memebership just prime student. That was my understanding too and thats why I decided to share this.

  • I think it just changed Aug 1st!
  • I'll have to check from my computer tomorrow. Mine told me all I needed to do was check the stuff off and then order my box but I checked everything off like 2 weeks ago and it still wasn't letting me.

I had originally purchased the box, but gave amazon feedback that it seemed unfair that women who made their registries in the second trimester (April-June 2015) missed out on a promotion that would have been available in their first or third trimesters. They did give me a credit for the box I purchased which made it free. It looks like they reset the checklist so that October moms get the box. Attached is a photo of the July 2015 box I received.

Also, if you have prime already, you get amazon mom for free, but you still sign up for it with no charge

They added extra stuff to it. You can do "mark as checked" and "select all". There are more categories too.

  • Glad this has helped some ladies. As a student prime memeber the Amazon mom memebership isn't free. The student memebership is discounted to $49.99 and in order to get the Amazon mom prime you have to pay the difference in fees. I didn't want to because we likely won't use it much. I'm glad I was still able to get the welcome box though!

  • Thank you! I just ordered mine :)
  • Woot! Just ordered mine.
  • Lurking from December- our prime account is associated with my husband's amazon account. My amazon account is set up as a guest user on his prime (I can order with free shipping, pantry boxes etc.). Amazon won't let me order the registry box and wants me to sign up for prime to access it. Is there a fix for this? Would we have to create a dummy registry with his amazon account to get the box? Thanks in advance!

This exact thing happened to me. When you're looking at your registry (logged in as you), click on "Manage your registry" and make your husband a co-registrant. He then can order the registry box from his account because he's the "primary accountholder" for Prime and now a co-registrant on the registry. He also can sign up for Amazon Mom for free (not related to the registry at all, just a thing that gives you discounts on diapers).

Thanks for posting this! I just ordered my box :) I didn't even know it was a thing til I saw this thread. Thanks for the heads up OP!
  • @spottedginger and @mllelibbington I am also the non-primary. I made a dummy registry because Amazon Mom is free for the prime main member. The benefit to Amazon mom is 15% off completion coupon instead of 10%
