I'm 15 weeks and I'm going through so much stress right now, far too many things for me to deal with in one go, let alone being pregnant on top of it!! I have been extra stressed today and have cried a lot, and the last couple of hours I have been having pains in my stomach ..could the stress be causing problems with the baby? I know that stress doesn't help during pregnancy, but I don't actually know how much it affects it. Thankyou in advance!
Re: How does stress really affect the baby?
Try not to be hard on yourself, you're obviously going through a lot right now. My midwife said that stress and anxiety for short periods-up to a month or so, her words- would not harm the baby, as it's very well protected.
If you are concerned at all speak to your midwife or doctor to put your mind at ease.
Hope this helps in some way xxxx

I've found The Bump incredibly helpful, and it's really nice to feel part of a community.
Much love to you xxxxxxx All the way from cornwall (pasty land ;-) ) xxxxxx
Also @charcharx I know it's very hard to be stressed whilst pregnant. It won't harm the baby but it's best to maybe go to the doctors so that they can keep an eye on your blood pressure and mental health.
I've been going through a lot too so I went to the doctors and they sent me to a psychiatrist every week. The midwives are also really helpful and they are offering more and more help every day and also offered this meditation program to help me destress a little bit.
So to maybe keep your mind at ease head to the doctors or midwife as it's always helpful for them to know what your going through to get you going in the right direction.
I hope everything works out for you soon x
And to you charchax, it's good to hear a friendly ear has helped you to relax a bit. Definitely speak to gp or midwife though, they can offer so much help and advice. Xxxxxxxxxxxx
