Nighttime routine - opinions please!

Hey all! I need your opinion / help... My daughter is 5 weeks today! She has started skipping her evening feed (yay!) so will eat around 5ish and be sleeping very soundly by 6ish. If we put her in her crib (she has slept in her crib since the first day we were home) she sleeps until the next feed, but not as soundly or for as long. So we put her in the top of the pack and play and she sleeps like a rockstar. Here in lies the dilemma - if we leave her in the pack and play until she wakes up (she has gone as late as midnight) one of us has to sleep on the couch or move the monitor camera downstairs & risk her starting to not like the crib to sleep OR I move her to the crib and work on soothing her back to sleep when she wakes up. I cannot decide the right decision & my husband and I discuss the pros and cons at nauseoum - any ideas / thoughts? TIA

  • I think I'd move LO to the crib and sooth her back to sleep. Hopefully that will become more routine and she'll sleep soundly in the crib eventually.

  • Thanks @LibbyC730 ! Will let you know what ends up happening! Appreciate you reading and answering :)
  • Can you move the pack and play into your bedroom? That's what we had to do haha and yes, transitioning to the crib is also a great idea. I honest don't think it is ever too early to start. :)
  • I agree with these ladies. If I'm understanding right, the pack and play has the little inclined sleeper? Mine does, but my baby hates it. She loves her crib (how backwards from yours lol) I would suggest to keep trying at the crib, as she will out grow the sleeper fairly soon.. And then you may (or may not) have a hard time getting her to sleep in her crib.. Or move the pack and play upstairs and get some beautiful sleep. She sounds like a great sleeper. As long as she's gaining and thriving.
  • We have our rock n play in our bedroom. We swaddle our LO before bed and turn on the sound machine. He has been sleeping for 3 and 4 hour stretches! He's 2 weeks.

Do whatever gets you guys the most rest. My middle child slept best in the swing so we moved it to the bedroom - I was worried (listening to others) about how difficult the transition would be to get him to sleep in a crib; long story short the swing motor died when he was 5 months old and so we just moved him to his crib and he was perfectly happy and didn't have any issues. I would move the pack n play into the bedroom and catch as many z's as you can!
  • My little guy doesn't like to nap in his crib, but he'll sleep in it all night with no issues so far. He's only 8 days old, but he seems to have established what he likes and what he doesn't. He only likes to nap while being held, which sucks...and we need to break that. But right now I'm not super concerned because he's still so new.
