Can I get help from moms that have had their milk dry up before?

Not sure if this has been talked about before, but my DD has stopped breastfeeding. It's been a few days now since she has BF and my breasts aren't leaking as much now. but they are starting to hurt some. they aren't engorging. so I'm wondering if they are drying up. can it hurt when breast milk dries up????

Yes! Mine hurt when I let mine dry up. Mine only hurt for about 2 days.

Mine never hurt when I dried up. But I slowly took away feedings so that wouldn't happen. Are you pumping when you're not breastfeeding? If not, I highly recommend it if you don't want to dry up. Try to pump at least every 3 hours.

Just because she doesn't want to BF right now doesn't mean you have to dry up and stop for good. If you're ready to stop that's fine but if not Google "nursing strike." Kellymom has tips here: https://kellymom.com/bf/concerns/child/back-to-breast/

How long did you BF? It it was a short time I wouldn't worry. If it was several weeks I'd try to pump a few times a day and slowly lessen the time and amount if times you pump. I'd hate for you to get sick. Mastitis is no joke. Some ladies here have been put in the hospital.

I took B6 for five days and cold showers. I also always had a tight sports bra on (as well as Motrin to help with any residual pain). Don't know if this is recommended, but it worked for me...

When I let mine dry up with the first it hurt really bad for at least 2-3 days.

I pumped for a week before I gave up. I stopped cold turkey. The worst engorgement came about 36 hours after the last pump. It was brutal. Advil took the edge off. About 24 hours after that it started to subside. I've read that sudafed and Benadryl can effect your production. I suppose worst case scenario if they didn't is you could be in a Benadryl coma and not know the difference. You're going to want help though because holding LO in that much pain was hard. It also took weeks for the let down sensation to go away. I'm now 8 almost 9 weeks Pp and I can still get something out if I try.
