  Payton reminds me of Peyton Manning. We considered naming our daughter that as well. Cute name.

  If you name her Madison, I will bet there will be 2 other Madison's in her kindergarten class. It's a super popular name. I say go with Payton

  I would say Payton is just as popular as Madison. So I wouldn't let that deter you. Personally, I prefer Madison over Payton.

  As a teacher I've had many students with both names. One year I had a boy and girl named Payton, (the boy spelt it differently). So don't pick based on popularity. I like Madison better, but I'm into "girly" names for girls.

  Both are masculine/very trendy.
  
  Of the two, Madison just because Payton is forever associated with Manning and I think it's weird to name your daughter after a football player.
