Hi everyone,
I'm a newly pregnant (in the 5th week) first time Mum from Australia. My EDD is April 1 so I only just fit into this group! Hubby and I are so excited and just cannot wait to see where this adventure takes us. I just have a few questions.
1. How long are you planning on keeping the news secret. I'm happy not to share for now, but it is already so hard. People keep asking me to do things i can't do and things like that and I just hate lying.
2. I rang to book in an appointment with mynormal doctor to confirm (already had a BFP at home, very dark positive line and lots of symptoms), but my doctor is not available for 2 weeks. I really don't want to wait that long to start the process. Should I book in with another doctor who will be available sooner just for confirmation?
3. I feel like I'm not allowed to be excited yet as it is so early. Is this normal? Have others felt this way?
Sorry for the massive post. You're advice and any information is appreciated. Thanks
Re: Intro and lots of questions
BFP #1 6.19.11 ~ EDD 2.23.12 ~ CP on 6.22.11
BFP #2 7.23.11 ~ EDD 3.28.12 ~ MC on 8.16.11
BFP #3 11.17.11~ EDD 7.31.12 ~ MC on 1.18.12
BFP #4 4.12.12 ~ EDD 12.25.12~ Born on 12.26.12
We are telling our parents and grandparents after our first appointment at around 8/9 weeks. We will start to tell everyone else around 12 weeks. My OB doesn't do bloodworm to confirm only and 8 weeks dating ultrasound. So I would t worry about waiting 2 more weeks. Be excited! My DH is containing his until the first appointment but I want to talk to him about it all the time, this will be #2 for us.
Also, we are telling our parents soon. For now I'm only telling people that we would tell if we had a M/C in case something happens. We will announce in general after the first trimester is over. If you have a trusted friend or something, or are ok with letting your parents in on the secret that might help you out to have someone to talk to about it.
My beautiful boy, born 7/2014
Newb expected 4/6/2016
My doctor usually sees people at 9 weeks, but I am going in at 7 because I had an ectopic earlier this year and they just want to monitor me more closely.
I know what you mean about excitement levels. I'm not quite there yet, but that may have to do with the fact that my only other pregnancy ended in a loss so I don't have fond memories.
Good luck!
I would call an OB instead of your GP, unless you need a referral to see an OB where you are. Either way though, early appointments are fairly useless, except for peace of mind. I wouldn't stress having to wait a few weeks.
I'm excited!! This is my 6th pregnancy and I only have two kids, meaning I've had three losses, and I'm still ecstatic. If you want to be more reserved, that's totally normal, but if you feel like designing an entire nursery right away, go for it!
Most of all, welcome to April!!!!
