Car accident at 20 weeks

On Friday we were in a car accident and I was rushed to the er. They checked the baby and said everything looked good and the baby seemed to be good. I've been really sore and having pain in my tailbone and lower stomach. I expected to be sore. I still feel her moving and everything. Have any of you been in an accident? I'm terrified to premature labor or brain injury or trauma or something to the baby. Can someone talk to me and maybe take some worry away? I've been so stressed and having nightmares and panic attacks.

  • That must have been so scary! I don't have any personal experience but I'm glad you're okay and that everything seem to be okay with the baby too.

  • I'm soooo sorry!! ThAt is crazy! I can't promis everything will be ok, but I do believe in doctors, and you need to trust in them! When is your next OB appointment? Maybe you can move it up for some peace of mind!
  • I'm making an appointment this week. I just haven't been myself since the accident. I'm so worried and panicked all the time.
  • I'm sorry that happened to you. How awful! If the doctor said baby is fine then she probably is. There's a lot of cushion in there so baby is pretty protected. I wish you the best and hope your aches and pains heal up soon.
  • Thank you. I just wanted to hear what some other mommas had to say. It always helps some what to hear what you all have to say
  • I have two friends that had car accidents during pregnancy. Theit babies were both fine as well. So sorry you had to deal with this!!!
  • So sorry! Car accidents are terrifying enough without being pregnant. I was in a minor accident at 17 weeks. We were in a cab and it hit a car. I went to the ER just to be safe and they said everything looked okay. The biggest concern was the placenta but it looked good. They also told me that since baby is so small she has a lot of cushion in there. I did have some brown dishcharge a few days later though. Just take it easy and if you can go to the Dr if you feel like something is off. It's better to be safe and it'll ease your mind!
  • I don't have personal experience, but one of my friends had an accident with her middle child at 25 weeks.
They were Tboned at 45mph. Totaled her car. Super scary stuff. Baby was just fine, as was her other son and step daughter in the back seat thanks to extended rear facing and good car seats! It made a believer out of me. Her husband was driving and hurt his hand, they all had scratches and bruises, but they walked away and baby was just fine.
Do check in with your OB. They can give you peace of mind and help lower your anxiety.
