Gallbladder pains?

Hello! Last pregnancy I had a lot of pain in my lower right quadrant, slightly below boob and a little towards the middle. It would be after I ate and last for a few hours, then repeat. Dr did ultrasound said I had gallbladder crystals and gave me ursodiol capsules to take and I felt better!! It went away after my son was born, well this go around is the same. Same pain, same spot, etc....but this time they say it's nothing. Ughhh...I changed my diet and that hasn't helped and I'm left in pain all day or I can't eat. Anyone else with same problems and any suggestions?

I suggest seeing a specialist for this. I no longer have a galbladder, mine was under the radar causing me a million problems. It's better be safe than sorry.

Also cut back on the fats that usually helps me. Even the healthy fats like avocado

Yeah like ppl said: NO avocados...that can wreak havoc. IBS is no joke

I had my GB out last year. Same symptoms... Started out feeling like heartburn and got worse. I didn't have stones, they called it "sludge" and recommend I have it removed. While I was waiting for the surgery I ate a very low fat diet... Mostly rice, fruit and breads. Lots of chicken noodle soup too. The fatty foods make it flare up. I'd go see someone else. They will take it out if you're pregnant but usually only in the second trimester and they will probably have to do it open instead of laparoscopically which will land you in the hospital for up to a week, plus give you a big scar on your abdomen. Good luck! I hope they can get it taken care of... That pain is no joke!

Re: Gallbladder pains?

  • I have been watching my fat and she and I'm at little to none. Also bad heartburn which Otc stuff doesn't help. Just feel like I'm getting no relief this time and I still have a long way to go. Feeling like this is hurting me emotionally because all I want to do is lay down and I need to be hanging with my son, who is 6 and enjoying these last few months as only child! Can't get down and play Legos ect :( ugh
  • I have been experiencing bad gallbladder pain even before pregnancy; I'm the only female in my family who still has one! Eating smaller meals definitely makes a huge difference, as well as not sitting slouched over in any way after I eat. I'll probably look into getting it removed after pregnancy, as long as the pain doesn't get too intense in the meantime.
