Has anyone else had to collect their pee for 24 hours (eww)? I was told my bp was a little high today so now I have to pee in a bucket for a day.... any stm out there who have done this before and your results?
FTM...this is my third time doing one. they are monitoring me for preeclampsia. One came back high, they put me in the hospital for 3 days. The one in the hospital was fine. And the one tomorrow determines if I am in the hospital for the remainder of my pregnancy, so I'm nervous at the moment
Ftm. I had to do this after my GD diagnosis to check kidney functions and check for ketones. Everything came back fine. Although the day I had to do it I also had to do a 5 hour road trip to pick up my step son so I got to carry around a cooler and take it all in with me to gas stations to catch my pee lol It was pretty funny, especially when I was in a stall next to people and they could hear me pouring pee from the catch plate into the jug. I can't imagine what they thought I was doing.
I did it because my pre-existing high BP. Just plan on hanging around the house all day. And keep the jugs COLD. That will keep the smell down. Otherwise it's not as bad as it really seems.
My doctor didn't have me do this they sent me for blood work to check my liver enzymes to check for pre eclampsia. Maybe they will have me do it after I get the blood work back.
I had to do it. Just make sure you do it on a day that you're gonna be home all day. And they told me to keep it in the fridge. It isn't that bad, just kind of a pain. Mine came back fine
I am also doing the blood work too. For me, it isn't that bad at all, I'd do it everyday if I could stay at home. It's more the idea of having to stay in the hospital depending on this test.
I did this last time. No protein found, but was still put on bed rest to reduce stress. Was induced the following week. It sounds scary, but honestly it was a bit nicer than I imagine going into labor somehwere, sometime is... I'm a control person. At 36 weeks my daughter was perfect at 6 lbs 7 oz, no steroids, no nicu.
@squigles28 I was told I would be admitted to the hospital depending on the blood test results. So maybe they are waiting for those, I get them tomorrow, before I have to do the 24 hour urine catch. They did put me on modified bed rest though.
I had to do this after a randomly high blood pressure reading a few weeks ago. Kind of gross, and everything was normal, but I guess better to be safe than sorry! Good luck with your results!
I had to do one last week. It was a pain but not a big deal. I bought a cheap cooler to keep it in at night so I didn't have to go up and down the stairs a million times.
The hospital nurse gave me one of those pink bin things to put ice in, which is what they did in the hospital anyways. Definitely helps with trips up and down stairs
I've done two with this pregnancy. Both have been over a thousand and ive been on bed rest since. My doctor said it doesn't really matter even if it jumped to 2000, as long as my blood pressure doesn't rise over the severe level.
