STMs...how many Aiden & Anais muslin blankets do I need?

I received 4 packages so 16 blankets total from my shower. How many do you suggest I keep?

I think 2 packs is definitely sufficient. I love our swaddling blankets.
  • I have four A&A muslin blankets total. I think 16 is quite a lot! They're expensive so if you return two packs you could put the money toward something else you need.

  • I have about 8 of those muslin blankets and 4 other stretchy cotton blankets for swaddling. I'd say you'd want between 8-12. They come in handy for more than just swaddling such as nursing and a car seat cover. I tried to use receiving blankets as swaddles with my son and they never worked right. I wish I would have had more swaddle blankets with him so that's why I overcompensated a little this time.
  • I agree with pp. 8 is plenty. Use the money for something else you need.
  • I used 3-4 I can't remember. I didn't swaddle with them though just as a cover and light blanket.
  • I had 12 for dd and probably used all of them. I would add that she was born in July so the light blankets were perfect and I may have been fine with just 8. I bought another 4 pack for LO because dd1 is still pretty attached to some of hers and I am hoping to make the smooth transition.

  • 1 or 2 packs should be fine. I used a swaddle me with velcro and used my aiden and anais blankets for the stroller and as a car seat cover, so 4 blankets was plenty for me.

  • I have 6 total and think that will be plenty.
  • As a follow up to this question, I registered for A&A muslin swaddles and received them, but I also received four other packs of muslin swaddle blankets from other companies from people who went off-registry (so the point of the registry people....!).  I obviously can't return the non-A&A swaddles, but could return the A&A ones to Buy Buy Baby.  Should I just return the A&A ones?  Are they so superior to the other brands (I mean they look very very similar) that I should keep them all?  Thanks in advance!
  • I didn't need more than one package. I used a more structured type of swaddler for sleeping, my kids never stayed in those blankets. But like pp have already said, they're great for lots of other things. I used mine a lot for covering the car seat if it was misting, laying them on a carpeted floor, covering while breastfeeding, or just a regular blanket.

  • Thanks ladies! I'm going to return 2 of them..the prints are so cute so having a hard time deciding which ones to return!
  • I was able to return non registry items to babies r us and got a credit. Don't see why you couldn't do the same with the blankets. Got a store credit. And thank you for the question I've got 8 of the A&A and want 4 more to be on the safe side. We don't have a washer and dryer and I'd prefer not to go to the laudramat every day!!

Sounds like you have it figured out. Let me just say that I successfully raised 2 kids past babyhood without any of those blankets lol. But I picked up a package of 3 bamboo ones for this baby. I'm pretty excited to try them out. I'm hoping I'm not disappointed with all the hype they get!
  • We had 6 for DS2 and used them ALL the time. He became attached to 2 specifically and still carries one around at almost 3.
  • @amp61470 and @lutarock unfortunately, they came from friends who live across the country who put together a basket for me :(  Don't think returning is an option for these
