Wind troubles?

my little girl is 10 days old, and we are so lucky she is an amazing baby. Only cries when hungry or wants a nappy change, and happily stays awake while we do things around the house.
In saying this she just can't seem to bring up wind. We burp between feeding and after feeding, and it's very rare to get a burp. We can see she's uncomfortable, but are at a loss as to how to help her.
Any tips please??

Re: Wind troubles?

  • Put her on her back and do "bicycles" with her legs.

  • Can't you just say 'burp' or 'fart' instead of 'wind'?

She said "burp" twice... What's wrong with saying wind? I thought it was a pretty common term for gas?

I also agree with PP, doing bicycles with her legs can push out some gas. How are you burping her now? You can Google different positions.

LOs dr. Said its ok if our little doesn't burp every time. He said the gas will come out somehow (she's a farter). For the first two weeks she hardly burped. She is three weeks now and is burping more often. I'd discuss it with your LOs dr. It will definitely put you at ease.

Edited to add: he also recommended that we hold her upright for 20 - 30 min. After she eats.
  • Il try mylicon tonight, have asked hubby if he can grab some for us.
No she hardly spits up, just gets hiccups from drinking too fast Hahahaha.
Will also try the bicycle legs on her next feed. Thank you for all the advice ladies, and tough If some don't like the word wind
  • I always find that if I can't get my babe to burp handing her off to someone else always gets it out during the transition. I could sit there and burp her for a while with nothing happening and once I give her to my husband.... BAM!!!
  • ^exactly! I'll be trying to burp her forever and my daughter will pat her back and tada! Or my mom. Lol

Can't you just answer her or walk away like a normal human being instead of being ignorant? Anyways OP have you tried mylicon? Works wonders! If she's not burping during feedings, try putting it straight in her bottle at each or everyother feeding, or as needed straight in her mouth. Does she spit up a lot?

Lmao. How old are you? First of all, you can't see any pictures of my face. So calling me ugly is seriously just stupid. And second, if you can see any of my pictures of me.. I was pregnant.. So again, calling me fat makes you look stupid, as we were all big at one point. You was an ignorant twat, you got called out on it, and now your acting like a butt hurt little baby. Lol carry on if you must.
  • What the what just happened here?!? Lol. @zmombie don't waste your time with @lilweenie's immaturity.
  • My son doesn't always burp. I try sitting him upright and putting him on my shoulder. He does get gas but so far hasn't had an issue passing wind.
  • I can't get a lot of burps out of our LO, either. Holding him in a seated position does help some, but usually only if he's taken a bottle. If he's nursing I can try forever with no luck! Poor little guy gets awfully gassy, but once it passes, he's in much better spirits.
