@MrsValerieWood I just want to say thank you to you and all the other donors out there. I used a donor egg and am now 10weeks pg. I could never have made it this far without people like you. I feel a very close connection to my donor even though I have never met her. What you are doing is wonderful and selfless. Thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the donors out there. Xx
I tried to donate when I was younger, but was rejected because of my allergy medication (and presumably, my allergies), so it didn't work out. I learned a lot about the process, though.
Now that I'm relying on donor sperm, I've come to have some pretty intense gratitude for donors. I'm so incredibly charmed by what I know about my sperm donor, that even though I don't know his name or what he looks like as an adult, I've got this affection for him, you know? And if I succeed in TTC, I imagine that the love I'll have for my child will only intensify that warm feeling.
So no, I'm not in your shoes, but I have a lot of appreciation for your decision. It's financially responsible, and big-hearted. I hope the process is easy, and best wishes for their family, and yours!
Me- 39 (turning 40 in April), TTC for the first time ever (since Jan 2015), low ovarian reserve
Married 3/14/14 to my wonderful wife, but her sperm count is rather low
TTC with frozen donor sperm and science
7 IUIs, 7 BFNs. 2 IVF attempts, both cancelled and converted to IUI, both BFNs. Decided that my tired old ovaries are ready to retire. Next step- reciprocal IVF, using my wife's eggs, my uterus! fresh 5 day transfer (2 embryos) 4/17/17- BFP! Identical twins "due" 1/2/17 (but anticipated arrival sometime December)
@KLake42 Thank you! It's nice to hear how much I'll be helping out! Flights booked and I go in for my exam on the 18th fingers crossed everything checks out! I have just as much riding on this as the IPs since we want to start a family after. : )
Thank you very much for what you are doing. I will never know my donor but she has given me a gift I could never repay. I am currently 8w 3d pregnant and I think of the gift I was given from a woman who doesn't know how much she has changed my life. I want to tell you how much you are changing lives.
