1st Trimester

Shortness of breath/out of breath

I am 6wks 3 days. I have been getting winded talking, cleaning, and doing activities that have never winded me before. Anyone else experience this as early as I am? I was very active and went to the gym 4-5 days a week before I found out I was pregnant. I just don't have the energy or stomach to go to the gym like I was... I have been taking it nice and easy and resting as much as possible these last two weeks. Any cures that don't involve and rx?

Re: Shortness of breath/out of breath

  • For my first, I was exactly like this!! No motivation or energy for that matter, when I lived and breathed the gym before I got pregnant! Pregnancy takes a LOT out of you. You're body is forming every little intricate part of your little life. Chemical processes are happening constantly. So sick back, take it easy, and enjoy your pregnancy. :)

  • Shortness of breath is very common. When I take the dog on a quick 10-minute walk, I have to sit for a couple minutes after because I get really winded. Today I walked him and then immediately went upstairs and I almost passed out
  • Woke up and completely out of breath and tired after having a shower I thought it was too hot but I was so breathless
  • I too am feeling really breathless and I am only 11w. I read it is fairly common and that drinking more water and light excersize can help.
  • I am 9 weeks and have been experiencing shortness of breath for the past two weeks. Just walking up a flight of stairs is tiring. I dont have very many symptoms so I take this as a good sign that baby is growing and tiring me out.
  • Completely normal! I am very athletic as well and I am always so shocked when I get out of breath when walking.  Sometimes when walking with my husband and we are going up a hill, he puts his hand on my lower back and helps "push" me up! :)  Supposedly we will get our energy back in the second trimester!
