GTKY- Favorite Verse/Quote

So I'm feeling like the board is a little slow and this is what I came up with...Since we will all be enduring labor & delivery soon, if you haven't already, we will need some encouragement to take along with us. I have personally created verse cards to take along that I'm super excited about! So, post your favorite Bible verse or quote.

I'll go first. My favorite verse is Matthew 5:10. "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven." It reminds me to just keep going even when the trials and opposition come.

Quote: The will of God will never take you to where the grace of God cannot protect you.
And I also love, Absence makes the heart grow fonder :)

  • I saw this poem by the Afghan poet Rumi when I was in the thick of post natal depression two years ago, and I thought it was beautiful and so true.

    The Guest House

This being human is a guest house.
    Every morning a new arrival.

    A joy, a depression, a meanness,
    some momentary awareness comes
    As an unexpected visitor.

    Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they're a crowd of sorrows,
    who violently sweep your house
    empty of its furniture,
    still treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
    for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
    and invite them in.

    Be grateful for whoever comes,
    because each has been sent
    as a guide from beyond.

  • I can do all things in Him who strengthens me.
  • "If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being, and who is willing to destroy his own heart?" - Alexander Solzhenitsyn
  • Ecc 3:1--that whole "time and place for everything" really resonates with me.  It's gotten me through some tough stuff in my life :)
