I'm shocked that so many women wear pants in the summer...it's been so hot recently I don't even want to wear a dress (I want to run around naked, if I have to go outside at all, lol), let alone pants, haha. I plan on not even thinking about pants for like...2-3 more months, at which point I'm sure I'll need maternity I haven't even attempted to put on pants since pre-pregnancy, it's dress season
I'm almost 17 weeks, and my work uniform pants are getting too uncomfortable (even with hair tie trick). I may start belly band, but I don't see that lasting long. I'm starting to mostly get uncomfortable sitting during the drive to and from, even with them unbuttoned, the pants push into my lower abdomen.
I'll prob wait until maternity pants stay up with a belly big enough to make then stay up.....I can promise either way it won't be long lol
And once I go maternity pants I will certainly not be going back (ever hahaha).
I think it kind of depends on the individual and how they grow. With my son I had some maternity work pants but was able to wear many pairs of my regular work pants, just unbuttoned for the whole pregnancy. So far with this second one, I'm 16 weeks and doing the same for now but the maternity slacks I just bought are way more comfortable than my regular slacks.
@CaraBoonie I wear pants all year because I am super self-conscious of my thighs. I had a huge growth spurt and have stretch marks on the inside of them so I never show them, even wearing shorts at home makes me uncomfortable (but I do that cause desert heat sucks). I usually go with capris in summer mostly and crop leggings when it's realllly hot. Also, I've never been a dress person, even maxis. I have a few maxi skirts that I may have to pull out soon. Also, I am only ever outside long enough to walk to my car, then into wherever I'm going. AC all day
@cawalp Oh, I hate my thighs too, I don't own a single pair of shorts...strictly dresses. As a child I hated dresses because I didn't like feeling too girlie, but they're just so effing comfy.
Granted this summer I've hardly left the house (off work and using the pregnancy card to get out of most things since I can't stand the heat), so my real summer uniform has been pjs, no shame, lol.
I pulled out the maternity pants the other day because I really wanted to wear jeans. My regular jeans are pretty fitted and were super uncomfortable. I only wore the maternity jeans for a few hours in the morning before it got too hot and I switched to a skirt. The only style of maternity pants I could wear were under the belly.
This is my second and I'm showing a lot more this time around.

Haha, I will swap to shorts and dresses when its no longer winter in Australia!
Hahahahaha at like 9 weeks... No joke. I was so bloated my jeans hurt, and my black work pants were getting ruined because the clasps were pulling too much! I've never looked back, maternity bottoms are wonderful. All my maxi skirts are regular clothes though. I saw maternity maxi skirts in-store and won't waste money on those, wear a longer shirt and the regular ones work just fine!
I currently am starting to show but still fit in all my pants, 16 weeks today. Unfortunately the weather here has been crappy the past week and I'm even wearing a sweater today. I am planning to go maternity clothes shopping next week for the first time to buy some essentials but I have enough flowy maxi type dresses to get me through the rest of summer if my pants stop fitting.
17+3 and my regular clothes still fit fine. Hoping to stay in them for as long as possible so I can just buy warm maternity clothes and not have to buy multiple seasons. I dress up for work, so that could get pricey.
I've been in maternity leggings for some time now I'd probably say a whole month already. I'm not touching pants like another posters said its summer and hot as hell I live in Georgia and I don't even go outside I swear bullets just going to my car which is not a far walk lol.
I just wear roll over yoga pants everyday. They're from Old Navy and not tight really or sheer. Some days I roll them down and some days up. They should accommodate my bump all the way till the end.
When I'm not at work I am in maternity clothes or athletic shorts. My regular bottoms were just getting too uncomfortable even with a rubber band. I wear scrubs to work and the pants are starting to get a little snug especially whenI sit down. I am going to need new tops soon because my boobs and little bump are making mine too short. I'm at 17+1.
I'm 14w5d. I just bought a pair of maternity jeans the other day from Target. Being a school teacher, I can only get away with yoga pants for so long, lol. They are def. not going to suffice once school starts. I should be far enough along at that point to start needing to wear maternity pants (19-20weeks) once school begins, so for now, my regular clothes are still doing the trick. I don't really like the belly band. I feel like even with that over my unbuttoned pants and a even with 2 layers on top of that, it looks bunched up and bulky in the stomach area. It doesn't look flattering on me, what so ever. I used it once when I was about 9 weeks along, and haven't liked how it's looked with anything since.
For my first pregnancy i didnt have to switch over to maternity gear until about 18-20 weeks. I didn't start showing until then either. This time around I had to switch at like 10 weeks which really freaked me out. But gosh maternity pants are soooo comfy!
I started to wear my regular pants unbuttoned and unzipped with an elastic band around week 12. By week 14 I was just too uncomfortable and made the switch to maternity. I can still fit in one pair of regular shorts that have a low waste and are loose fitting. I'm a first time mom and expected to be able to wear mostly regular clothes through the summer, boy was I wrong! I'm thankful for flowy tops and summer dresses right now so I can put off buying much until the cooler weather.
In mostly maternity pants/shorts/leggings since about week 13, but I still have a few shorts that were loose and low enough that I can still wear them. Many of my skirts and dresses were loose enoughthat they still work, and probably will until the end of the summer. FTM so Ihad no idea it would happen this fast! Never really tried the rubber band trick, figured I had the maternity stuff, why not wear it. Find the belly band uncomfortable to use with regular pants but loving it over my boobs for extra support, on the days a bra just isn't enough, plus it makes e low cut maternity tops feel more co fortable for me to wear and not flash the world
I'm 14w4d and just started the elastic band trick. With DS I switched to maternity pants about 18-20w, probably will do the same this time. But I wear a lot of dresses that are more comfy.
I'm 14 weeks and caved last week after refusing to not buy maternity pants because I hate the stretchy waist bands. I'm only 21, so I'm having a hard time coping with LOOKING like a mom. (I dress conservative as it is, so it seems unfair I have to wear elastic waist bands lol ) I got some SUPER cute clothes from Pea in the Pod and Motherhood Maternity.
Last pregnancy I didn't get a bump until about 24 weeks.. So I wasn't in maternity clothes until then. I look at the pictures now and wonder how I got so far with nothing!! This pregnancy I dug them out at 10 weeks!!!!! Mortifying, but they are so much more comfortable and I can't be bothered with the hassle of belly bands or elastic bands extending my own.
16+4 and after I got one pair of maternity jeans, I'm never going back. Maybe not even after the baby. They are so comfortable. I can still wear my regular jeans but I don't really see the point when I can be more comfortable
I have to wear pants to work and at about 10-12 weeks I started the switch. I was just way too bloated to fit into my old structured dress pants. Loving the stretchiness of the built in belly band.
When I peed on the stick! Seriously. I was so bloated and puffy that nothing fit comfortably. I loved them when I was pregnant before so I welcomed them:)

I have to dress up for work. I am not a fan of the pants yet. They feel awkward. I am used to structured clothing. I have found that maternity leggings and a high-waisted dressy top (down to my knees) has been my go-to.
@cawalp: I have stretch marks from a growth spurt too but I've decided I don't give a damn. My dislike for shorts comes from my thighs chafing. (I'm not overweight but I sure don't have a thigh gap!) But I finally found a pair at Am Eagle that are long enough that chafing isn't an issue and they have stretchy material so they're actually comfortable around my waist.
I had a couple of pairs of maternity pants before getting pregnant. Much more comfortable when on your period. I lost 10 pounds from morning sickness but I've only gain 2 pounds back so I'm not really showing yet. I'm 17 weeks today so hopefully that will be changing soon!!!!
Im a teacher too. Yoga pants work just fine. As I said they're not tight, they're boot cut and look like regular black trousers if you wear a decent shirt. I'm all about the yoga pants.
I haven't even attempted pants. I have been in regular shorts, dresses and skirts. My regular shorts were loose before pregnancy so they still fit fine. How ever my yoga capris and shorts are starting to hurt my belly. (Baby #2)
Teacher on summer vacation. So no real clothes have been attempted. Yoga pants around the house and I can fit into a pair of jean shorts if I go anywhere. I also have a few skirts/dresses I've been wearing.
When school starts I'll have to pull out the maternity clothes and see what will work. But right now I'm hardly showing at all.
Sounds like me! I wear stubs to work so those are ol but my regular clothes were uncomfortable around 8-9 weeks and I had to go buy some maternity pants. I love them now.
16 weeks and no turning back. The maternity pants are still a little big but so much more comfy, I personally can't stand 'under the bump' makes me feel sick. I like full bump cover (not at all sexy atm when I can tuck them in my bra haha)
I'm 16 weeks with my first pregnancy and my pants are starting to get tight. I don't think I can wear them for too much longer. Where are you ladies finding all these cute maternity clothes and comfy jeans?
