Dizzy / out of breath every day at about 10am. Ideas why?

Pretty much every day this week, I find myself completely out of breath with weak legs at around 10am. Doesn't matter what I've eaten, or whether or not I've had a cup of coffee. Ideas?

  • Hmm.. That's kind of funny that it happens every day at the same time! Is there a commonality of what you're doing at that time physically? For me, dizziness and breathlessness are pregnancy symptoms. As our blood volume increase, things change. At random, I will get dizzy and out of breath. From my experience, this is normal, but I would definitely mention this to your doctor who knows the details of your pregnancy!

  • Yeah I get dizzy certain times if the day it doesn't matter what I do.
Definitely talk to your doc and ask what to do.
Also this is a good post to go in the symptoms thread there's usually someone who has the same thing or can give advice.
  • Could be an iron problem. Anemia is common in pregnancy.
  • Low blood pressure could also be a culprit. Would put a call into your OB to see what they think. Good luck!

TTC#1 May 2009- July 2010 on our own with no luck

Started with RE in August 2010, dx with unexplained IF and then finally our 3rd IUI cycle using Follistim and Trigger resulted in our wonderful little man.  Born 12/2/11

TTC#2 Never really prevented, but were careful early on as Dr. reccomended

Surprise BFP 12/16/13, started progesterone immediately as first numbers came back low, but betas were good.  Progesterone wasnt enough. Natural MC 12/24/13.

Back with RE as of January 2014...

  • Same thing happens to me around 10. Seems to be related to food for me though, I usually eat breakfast between 6-7, so I think by 10 my body is ready for some more food to regulate blood sugar or whatever is going on. I was also low on iron so had to switch prenatals & I sometimes forget to take it with breakfast and will then feel that way as well.
  • This happens to me, too. I find it's worse if I have something more sugary for breakfast, like jelly toast or certain cereals. It lasts about until I eat lunch and then I'm fine for the rest of the day. I figure it's because your body hasn't had food all night and you're burning it off faster, combined with higher blood volume and all of that. Make sure you drink plenty of water in the morning, which helps me.
  • I have this issue this time and it was just as bad with my son...I'm having twins so I expected it to be worse. And I was correct.

I had the same symptoms with my gestational diabetes. It's still early to have that issue, but low blood pressure early in pregnancy has caused it for me this time. I'm on BP meds bc it was HORRIBLE last time so its a strange balance for me.

I also get that sinking feeling around 11am. If I try to nap when my toddler does, I have to eat first bc I will wake up and not recover from the feeling.

I try to snack all day and avoid large meals. That seems to help this time around. I also have bad morning sickness so they told me to drink Gatorade to help with dehydration. It has been a life saver. That and orange juice have helped me. Ask your doctor/nurse and they may have other opinions as well :)
  • I was having episodes similar to that starting about 9 weeks the dr told me that she thought it was lack of water. So I started drinking a lot more water and the shortness of breath stopped. I still get shortness of breath from time to time but it is because of my water intake....so I'm still learning..I am 17 weeks 4 days now.
    I haven't gotten dizzy yet.
I would ask my Dr if I were you what they recommend.
