Working out after csection?

i am 3 weeks pp, a week ago I got the ok to start walking, but I'm itching to start working out again. It annoys me that I still have 10 lbs to loose and I can't fit into my pre pregnancy jeans. Has anyone gone against their Drs orders, and started working out more hardcore? I'm debating whether or not to do so. I feel almost back to normal. I don't know if that makes it any better

Re: Working out after csection?

  • I would stick to what the doctor says. Even though you feel normal, your insides are not healed completely and you could risk some serious damage if you push yourself too hard.

When I had my c/s, I started walking short distances at 3-4 weeks. At the end of week 4 going into week 5, I started walking longer distances and felt good. After a few days of that, it started to hurt on the inside to move much. I pushed it too hard too fast but fortunately I listened to my body and stopped. I didn't do any damage but I definitely hurt and it pushed my recovery back some.

  • I'm 2 wks out and feeling the same way. Walks r great but,... The risk is busting open the incision and having to go back in for a redo. Happened to a friend!! I keep reminding myself if that happens MUCH longer rehab, not to mention trying to take care of baby with all that! Good motivator to stay chill for awhile longer.
  • It all depends on your body and everyone is different. I'm 9 days pp and am ready to increase my activity. This was c section number 2. After my first I was running at weeks 4-5, trained and ran a mini marathon at 11 weeks pp. Not saying it wasn't tough and I cramped the worst I'd cramped after a race, but I did no harm to my c section. This time I have been doing normal house things, going to walmart, etc since pp day 6. Just listen to your body. I can tell when I've done too much walking as I start getting achy on the inside and have to pop an ibuprofen.
  • Im just about a month pp. I called to ask my doc abt this the other day. They say only walk but no jogging til i see my doc til the follw up appt. I want to work on my abdomimals so bad. I hate this flabby lityle pouch lol.
