36 weeks 8lb baby boy!

so at my son Kyrie u/s the tech told us that he was 7lbs 2oz which was 2 weeks ago and yesterday at the emergency room he was right at 8lbs. So they are ordering me the much stronger sugar test. Anyone else been in this situation before?

Re: 36 weeks 8lb baby boy!

  • I was tested late in my pregnancy for gestational diabetes and my results came back funky. My first one was positive then they sent me to do the 3 hour one and one was positive and two were negative. Then at my 34 weeks appointment my urine came back high in sugar... They told me technically I don't have it (which I don't understand) but I need to watch all my sugar intake or I'll end up having a 10lbs baby.
As for baby weight at 34 weeks he was 5lbs 8 oz. My husband was 9lbs 7oz so I'm starting to get pretty nervous about it myself.
I've talked to a lot of people and a few l&d nurses and they said the guessed weight isn't always right so don't panic.
My friend was told her son was 10lbs 4oz and he ended up only being 8lbs 3oz when she gave birth.

I'm a ftm so I don't really have an answer but thought I'd share what I found out :)

  • In my experience, both my babies were under the weight that the ultrasounds guess. DS was supposed to be over 8lbs and was 6.14, DD was supposed to be about 5.7 and was 4.15. Hopefully that's comforting!!
