Anyone else start shopping way earlier than usual? I know I will appreciate it in October/November with a newborn but I feel very silly buying stuff so early.
I'm pretty much done! I won't have an income while on maternity leave, so I've just been buying since the Spring. I've completed everyone but grandparents and my daughter.

I started the day after Christmas last year during after Christmas sales. I also just stopped doing craft shows and pulled some of my leftover peices into my Christmas gift stash for SIL, MIL, grandmas, friends, etc for cheap gifts. I am doing a lot of gift cards for remaining family members. Im just starting to wonder how early is too early to start wrapping gifts?
We have yet to start, but plan on starting soon. Spreading these expenses out over a few months is so much easier than having to spend it in one go! I've been doing this for years, and DH totally saw the logic in it last year so he's on board now too
I Christmas/birthday shop year round! I feel like I don't have the spending guilt when I space it out, and I'm able to get better deals at random times. And, it helps when I'm just really in a shopping mood to buy something for someone else, rather than myself.
I keep a spreadsheet on my computer with everyone's names, then what I buy, how much it was, and how much it should have been if it was discounted or split (for the nieces and nephews I've bought bigger packages of books, toys, accessories, etc., and split them). I get weirdly excited about it.
I started buying some sale and clearance items for my daughter. I keep them in my car. I found some cute things at the Nordstrom sale for my siblings that I may buy. Money is going to be tight once baby comes since I won't be working so I'm not really looking forward to Christmas as far as gifts go.
I am in awe ladies! I'm planning on utilizing Amazon and other websites that will ship everything to me. That way I'm not feeling up to going out to shop I won't have to mess with it.
I haven't shopped for any store-bought gifts yet, but we'll be giving most of the ladies on our gift list handmade jewelry. I'm all done with that, though if I get inspired and make something between now and Christmas, I might swap it out. I'm also making cross-stitched ornaments and throw pillows, which I've started on so I'll be finished or nearly so by October.
For most of the other gifts, I'll buy on Amazon so I can take advantage of free Prime shipping, and even have certain items shipped directly to the people they're meant for. The one exception would be gifts from DS to his cousins and sister, which I want him to pick out. Even these might be able to be picked out at TRU and bought via Amazon (especially for the out of town cousin).
Working in retail for 12 years before I became a mom, I always tried to get an early start on my shopping, and when you start seeing Christmas stuff in your stockroom in early September (or before!), it's not hard to get in that mindset. At least not for me. Having to deal with crowds all day, the last thing I wanted to do was deal with them when I was off!
Now that I'll have a tiny baby as well as a two-year-old to care for, I'd rather spend my time watching Christmas movies and making cookies than battling crowds. Getting stuff done early alleviates the pressure and allows us to just enjoy the holiday.
I normally start January 1st and haven't had the time, money, or energy yet. Aside from our kids, everyone is getting homemade presents. Hopefully they like them.
I was thinking about this today. I don't know if I should start or not. We need to have an conversation with the family about only buying kids due to our budget but they won't want to talk about it until closer. Normally I start shopping in October and finish by thanksgiving.
