Anyone who had an epidural having sore back problems?

its been 10 weeks since I gave birth but it seems like since I had the epidural my back bothers me in ways it never did before. Bending over to talk to my son when he's on his play mat or laying on the couch(or any bending over)
Simple movements that never bothered me before do now. Sometimes when I try to sleep on my back it's very uncomfortable and I have to sleep on my side or stomach. I have a total lack of back strength unlike what I used to have and I've been trying to do exercises to help strengthen it again but i don't want to make it too sore

Anyone having anything similar to this? And if so what have you done to help it

Re: Anyone who had an epidural having sore back problems?

  • I too have been having back problems that I don't even remember having during pregnancy. From what I've read online is some women have this problem and it never goes away. I feel it more towards the end of a shift when I've been on my feet all day or about the middle of my second game of softball when I used to feel it constantly. It has gotten better. I'm now 13 weeks PP. it definitely hasn't gone away but I can tolerate a little more now.

  • @jame1380 yeah I didn't have back pain/aches like this when I was pregnant and deff not beforehand. I'm glad it's not as bad for you anymore! I'm going to continue to do back strengthening exercises so hopefully that'll help
  • I had a lot of back pain while pregnant but none so far post partum. I am 10.5 weeks pp and also had an epidural. I don't know if this has helped or not but I've been seeing a chiropractor since a week after DS was born. I started seeing her while pregnant (she specializes in pregnant women, post partum, and infants). You may want to take a look at seeing a chiro or physio? Just a suggestion.
  • I had a C-Section and still feel pains in my back from the spinal. If i sit too long a certain way it feels like sharp sciatic pains.
  • I don't have pains but I have this constant feeling that there's a bug or something crawling on my legs. It's really annoying!
  • @chambersbaby2015 I will look into a chiro thank you.
@babyblue0501 If I sit a certain way too long my back gets sore as well.
@MegsB1112 I had a sharp pain in my left leg for about a month or so after delivery. It bothered me to sleep on that side and everything but I didn't have a feeling like bugs were crawling. I hope that stops for you soon for your sake. That would drive me absolutely nuts
  • When we are pregnant, we lose majority of our core muscle strength. There is a good chance that is why your back is hurting (was for me). We are so used to not being able to bed over etc and now we do it without thinking. But the lack of core strength can really take a toll on your back.
