1st time in High Risk, please help ease my mind

This may be a minor reason to have my Doc transfer me to high risk, but she did yesterday and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this.  My Ultrasound showed extra fluid and a big baby.  He's measuring big in all areas and in the 95th percentile. Yes, he may just be a big baby, but GD came back negative and I'm trying not to be concerned. My 3 boys were all born in the mid 7 pound range and had normal u/s scans throughout pregnancy. Has anyone else experienced extra fluid and a big baby?  I'm 25 weeks today.  My nurse called at 4pm on Friday to say we're sending you to a new doc after reviewing your sca, so we're playing the waiting game now. Thanks! ;)

Re: 1st time in High Risk, please help ease my mind

  • I see a high risk specialist and I really like it. I get to go a lot more and see the baby...even if it is just the back of her head right now! They're telling me that her head is big right now, but my sister said that they told her the same thing and her daughter came out normal size. I don't think ultrasounds are the best judge, so just try to hang in there and know that even though "high risk" sounds scary it really just means that you'll be monitored more closely/taken better care of and get to see your little "big one" more! Sending you positive thoughts and luck for your visit.

Thank you!  That' reassuring. Yes, all good points.  It'll be nice to have that care overall. I'm sure our babies will even out before birth. Take care. :)
