to cling or not to cling-is she spoiled?!

Some of my friends feel like my 2month old is spoiled and clingy. She loves being held but I can put her down as long as she has a full tummy, her paci, and Momo her stuffed monkey. From day she got here she's enjoyed cuddles and being talked to. She's BF and bottle-fed but she prefers breast milk. She likes people but won't stay in their arms for long before wanting to go back to me. The only people she stays with without a problem is my mom and her dad. I'm a cuddlier parent than most of my friends but my 3year old is the same way but he's behaved than their kids. Is there anything wrong with having kids that prefer being with their parents?

  • That's how I feel. I'd rather them be loveable than attention deprived brats
  • Spoil away!!! As PP said, you can't spoil a newborn. They need their mom, especially during this "fourth trimester". Sometimes people need a reminder that LO is still brand new.
  • People need to just shut up some times. Seriously. Love on that baby! You are giving her the emotional security that she will need for life. My two cents anyway :-)
  • My mom tells me every day how spoiled she is. They're supposed to be attached to us. Snuggle away!

  • My mom always tells me I'm spoiling my LO whenever she sees me holding her. It's annoying! Like she's two months old.. Of course I'll spend a lot of time holding/cuddling her. It doesn't mean she's spoiled, it means she's a baby!

  • My mom for the first time today eluded to the fact that I was spoiling DS because I usually hold him for his naps. If I don't he only sleeps for 20 minutes. I just ignored her. I'll worry about him learning to sleep on his own when he's out of the newborn stage. At this point it's about survival and making sure he gets the rest he needs.
  • 1. It's nobody's business what you do to your baby
    2. How in the world could a 2 month old be spoiled????

Hug on that baby all you want!!!
  • If I thought my MIL would let me hold my baby all the time I would. We stayed at her house a couple nights and she was out of town the first night we were there. She got home the second night when I had finished giving him his bottle. I was burping him and she ripped out of my hands. There is no stopping her. My FIL had been sending her pictures making her jealous.

Snuggle that baby all you want!!!
