Multiples Check-In 7/29

Good morning ladies! I know some of you expressed interest in a multiples check-in so I am going to try my best to run it once a week!

1. How far along are you and what is the corresponding fruit or veggie?

2. How are you feeling?

3. Do you know what type of twins you are having?

4. Do you know the sex of the twins, are you still waiting, or are you team green?

5. Have you announced to everyone, or still waiting?

6. Do you have other children? If so, how did you tell them you were pregnant?

GTKY: Fun fact about yourself

Here's my update....

1. How far along are you and what is the corresponding fruit or veggie?
I am 11w4d- the twins are the size of limes

2. How are you feeling?
Finally feeling a bit better. I have been super exhausted and sick. I started to see a slight change at the beginning of week 11.

3. Do you know what type of twins you are having?
We are having di-di twins

4. Do you know the sex of the twins, are you still waiting, or are you team green?
We are still waiting to find out. We are trying to hold out until our anatomy scan in September.

5. Have you announced to everyone, or still waiting?
Our immediate families have known since we found out at 7w. I will be announcing via Instagram to all our family and friends this Saturday. I will be 12 weeks and we also had a really positive NT scan this week so I finally feel ready to announce!

6. Do you have other children? If so, how did you tell them you were pregnant?
I have a 6 month old at home so she has no idea how her life is about to change!

GTKY: Fun fact about yourself
My DH and I struggled for a long time to get pregnant with our DD. After 14 timed cycles with OPKs, temping and charting, we turned to an RE. We were diagnosed as having Male Factor infertility issues. We then did two medicated IUIs that both failed and one full blown round of IVF, wherein our DD was the only embryo of the 13 fertilized that survived.

Fast forward to this year... DD born in January. At my 12w PP checkup with my doctor she asks me about birth control and I almost laugh. I hadn't been on the pill since 12/2012. If something happened it would be a miracle and we'd take our chances!

Well you could have blown me over with a feather when I finally decided to test at the end of June and discovered I was already 7w pregnant! Then, when we had our first u/s later that week I completely lost it when I found out it was twins! It really doesn't make any sense how this happened given our infertility issues, but I am so glad it did! We didn't know if we would be able to give our daughter a sibling, so we feel blessed to be able to give her 2!

Re: Multiples Check-In 7/29

  • 1. 12 weeks today, limes

    2. I'm still tired all the time, but I don't feel as blah and yucky. I really can't complain because I never threw up and was always able to eat, but often felt nausea and nothing sounded good. I still have lower abdominal pressure that aches. My ob thinks it's the combination of my muscles not fully healing back after I had my son, and this being a twin pregnancy.

    3. Di-Di, I believe fraternal.

    4. I won't find out until my 20 week anatomy scan. But DH is still trying to convince me to be team green.

    5. My son's play group moms know, but we still haven't announced to family or longterm friends. We wanted to wait until after the first trimester, but my parents decided they're visiting this weekend. So I guess it's time to announce! (There's no hiding my bloat/bump.)

    6. My 2.5 year old doesn't get it. DH asks him if he'd like a baby pretty frequently. He always answers no, that he wants a choo-choo.

GTKY: fun fact? I'm not sure it's "fun", but this was ivf #9 (unexplained infertility). We were going to be done trying this year and just live life with our only child.

@ss456 you are a super strong woman to have done 9 IVFs! So glad to know it worked and your little boy will be getting not one but two siblings!

  • 1. How far along are you and what is the corresponding fruit or veggie? 13 weeks today, my babies are peaches!

    2. How are you feeling? Feeling much better than throughout the first trimester, but still dealing with morning sickness.

    3. Do you know what type of twins you are having? Fraternal, separate sacs

    4. Do you know the sex of the twins, are you still waiting, or are you team green? We will be finding out the sex of the babies. These are our firsts so we need to stock up on  everything baby!

    5. Have you announced to everyone, or still waiting? We have told everyone but have not made it "Facebook Official" yet. Waiting for our next ultrasound on Wednesday, can't wait! (prayers appreciated as I'm still worried of first trimester losses)

    6. Do you have other children? If so, how did you tell them you were pregnant? No other children, this will be our first and second!

GTKY: Fun fact about yourself: Fun fact about me is that I work for a company called PPEI, we tune competitive diesel trucks. I love telling people that because it blows their mind that a woman would work in this field!

The line between strong and crazy might be a little blurry! :)
But yes, we are very happy to be growing our family and give our son siblings.

  • 1. How far along are you and what is the corresponding fruit or veggie? 11+4, limes

    2. How are you feeling? Meh. Exhaustion is my biggest and baddest symptom. It's made worse by my lingering chronic fatigue from hypothyroidism. Otherwise, not bad. Slight cramps and general all day nausea, but it could be much worse!

    3. Do you know what type of twins you are having? Di-Di twinsies

    4. Do you know the sex of the twins, are you still waiting, or are you team green? We're anxiously awaiting the 20 week anatomy scan to find out!

    5. Have you announced to everyone, or still waiting? We announced to everyone after our first ultrasound at 8 weeks. I've had a good feeling and I wanted everyone to be on board.

    6. Do you have other children? If so, how did you tell them you were pregnant? No children yet!

My husband and I are professional sword fighters. We expect babies to come out as ninjas or pirates. ;)
  • Just a fun fact for my fellow twin moms :) di/di (2 sacs/2placentas) does not always mean you're having fraternals. You still have a 30% chance of having identicals depending on when the egg split. Unless your twins are boy/girl will be the only true way to know, while in utero, that you have fraternal twins.

    FWIW, I have di/di identical girls :)

@Twindling Good info! You can know if you have DNA testing when they are a few months old. I heard some women who have done that and their babies ended up being identical!

All my docs say mine are def fraternal but I read the same thing as you! With that said, at our NT scan, my twin profiles actually looked a little different. We will see...

My girls looked totally different in utero, and still look really different. When they were 4 months old, we went through proactivegenetics and had them tested. :)

  • I am 10 weeks 4 days. Apparently prune sized.

They are di, di twins. Don't know the sex yet. Had a blood test drawn but not sure if it works with multiples.

I am EXHAUSTED. Within an hour of waking up, I feel like I normally do at the end of a long, hard day. Hate it.

I have no other kids, but have two dogs.

I am too tired to think of a fun fact. Lol

Same here! Were told over and over that they were fraternal In the womb but decided to get them tested at a year because they looked too much alike. Turned out they were identical! :) good luck to all you ladies!
