Quiet breast pump?

Any recommendations for a quiet breast pump? I will be going back to work and want it as silent as possible...

Re: Quiet breast pump?

  • I have the Medela pump in style and it is pretty quiet but not silent. I've never had another so I have nothing to compare it too. It's just a consistent sucking kind of sound. I don't know if you will find any silent ones

I rented the Medela symphony from the hospital and it's set up in the nursery. I pump after LO goes to sleep and haven't woken him yet, but it's still not totally silent! It's not very portable, either.
  • Just got a Medela after using the Ameda for my previous LO and the Medela seems quieter. I had a friend turn her Medela on over the phone to see if I could hear it and I couldn't.

  • I have the spectra C, and it doesn't seem loud to me. I would consider it quiet.
  • I'm using the medela symphony as well. It's pretty quiet, you wouldn't be able to hear it if you were in another room. I've used it while baby and husband are asleep and it hasn't woken either of them.

@Sep5Bride have you noticed a quantity difference between the two pumps? I'm currently using Ameda Purely Yours double electric pump...

  • @Sep5Bride & @mrsrep123 I just switched today from a medela symphony, (rented from the hospital after giving birth on the 28th), to the Ameda purely yours double (which I received a brand new one free through my Kaiser insurance...too keep!!) I instantly noticed the Ameda is louder! The motor is louder, but there Is an annoying very high pitched beeping sound. Have only used it once, so will have to keep on eye out for quantity difference. Would love to hear your thoughts as you evaluate
  • I think the Lansinoh one I had was an exact copy of the Ameda one. They look identical and that damn beeping sound which is what I was thinking people would be able to hear at work. So I bought a Medela PISA and it's so much quieter compared to the Ameda one!!
  • Yeah @klirwin82 I like the pump because it's so portable and works well…but Why the damn beeping sound what the hell were they thinking
