Postpartum belly binding

I'm interested in postpartum belly binding , this will be my 3rd and last pregnancy in 3 years and I would love to have every chance to get back to normal as much as possible. I have seen good results online but who knows how real they are . Has anyone here done it , are going to do it or know someone who has and what do you use product wise. I have seen pre made ones and then people who use the moby wrap and sheets ... :-? TIA :)

Re: Postpartum belly binding

  • I used the Belly Bandit after my first and I give it an "eh" review.  It helped with support, which was great.  But I don't think it made the biggest difference in my stomach and it made it hard to move and to BF.  I think I might try to use Spanx this time around instead for compression with easier movement.

  • If I get crazy big I'd like to try it. If not I'll just hit the gym. :)
  • I asked for a compression garment at the hospital and it worked wonders for me. It covered everything from below my boobies to the top part of my hips and it was surprisingly not uncomfortable. I wore it all day everyday for 6 weeks and I started to see results immediately. It didn't give me 6-pack abs but it did help speed the process of getting everything back in its place. I was relatively flat in the tummy with no loose skin, but I had a teens pooch which is understandable since I did just have an almost 10lb baby. Even my mom and aunts remarked how good I looked and complimented me on my ability to snap back, which is the highest of compliments and quite hard to come by lol!

Once the elastic started to wear I tried a belly bandit but like PP I didn't love it so I returned it and asked my doctor for a new compression garment. I wore that one when I wasn't working out (pilates, swimming, running) and in about 6 weeks (12 weeks post-partum) I was back to normal.

What I will say is don't use those waist-trainers from the Internet boutiques. Two friends tried them and messed themselves up.... and they didn't do what they promised.
  • @maiatene, so they just gave you one on request? That almost sounds too easy ;) I'll be doing that then.
  • Glad I read this. Was planning on getting the belly bandit but maybe not anymore. Might just use my regular Spanx. My mom brought me some compression tanks from Costco last time and I loved them.

  • @katiemeowt yup just like that! I believe they normally give them to c-section mom's but if you ask the nurse should give you one.
  • I've been very interested in this also, glad to learn of the compression garment from the hospital!
  • I had a csection with my first baby and they gave me one too! I wore it for a few weeks and it helped a ton. I still have it and am planning on wearing it after this baby if the hospital doesn't give me a new one.

  • I've never used one and have always been able to make my way back into good shape. Sometimes longer and other times shorter. I'm thinking it'll be fine using one or not. Best of luck!
  • I am planning to do this. If I have a c section I will ask for the compression garment if I deliver naturally I will use my belly wraps I made to help support my belly now or may still ask for the one from the Dr. I get huge with my pregnancies. But I have actually done pretty well so far but only 18 wks. So we will see what the next 22 weeks brings.

  • I've been looking into this too! I've looked at Belyfit panties but was unsure how well they fit. But I also thought of Spanx tanks and going down a size for good compression.
  • I spelled it wrong! Sorry ladies for that typo. But here is what I've been looking into :D
  • Does anyone know if this type of girdle has the same effect as regular girdles that women wear for waist training? To clarify, what I mean is, do they also have results that sometimes reshape your rib cage and sometimes shift organs? The reviews and articles I've read on waist training varies, hence my question. Sorry if I scared anyone.

@ChiccoBeanz yeah a lot of them are but idk people might be interested in researching the products if they are serious about this sort of thing
Frankly I'm skeptical but who knows!
  • I've done the It Works wraps. It only worked a little. You can search wraps on Pinterest and find different ones. Some work better than others. It depends on how tight you wrap and what ingredients you use.

That's a good question.... I'll be following to see if any one knows the answer. :)

Sounds like torture but will hospital give it to FTM who do not do a csection??  They never offered me one when I had CS and if I do a VBAC curious if they still will give you one?  I bought something similar with my first but never used it.  Is the one in the hospital something you have to buy from a medical supply place?  I saw one in a pregnancy magazine but it was probably the Bandit which sounds useless.
  • My sister used the bellefit one and said it really helped her to be able to stand up straight until her internal organs and abs moved back into place.
