Gemma and Sons of Anarchy TV show

The more and more I think about this name I LOVE IT !!

Does anyone else associate it to Sons of Anarchy ? DH does, especially since we have a DS1 Jaxson, nn Jax. Would it be completely awful to still use if we get a girl ? I'm torn because I love it, but I know so many people who were fans of that show that would think we did it because of the show. ;)

I had "Jax" almost 9 years ago. It really didn't occur to me that they were the SOA character names until he brought it up. BOOOOO !! I love that name :((

Our dog is named Gemma and we ALWAYS get asked if it is from SOA (which it isn't, she came adopted with name, and we don't watch) however, I can only imagine how many people will ask for a child named Gemma. But I say do what makes you happy, you love it, use it! It's just one question! With that said I secretly love Sawyer! (Any lost fans lol)
  • I would totally think of SOA, and if I later heard about your son Jax I would think you did both on purpose. Sorry!

I'm with @eileenmcgoo... although Jax is coincidental, adding Gemma to the mix is pretty much asking for SOA references. Might as well toss Abel and Thomas into your mix for future boy names if you're gonna stick with the theme :)
  • I'm having this same problem w/ DH and Gemma. I love it and he only thinks of SOA. I do agree that having a Jax already suggests total fangirl.

I wouldn't think SOA about Gemma alone, but with a Jax? I'd think it very odd.

My daughters name is Gemma Rose and I never ever ever ever watched sons of anarchy! In the beginning I would get asked that but honestly it wasn't by too many people. Mostly family cause they watched the show.
  • I think of Gemma from SOA but I also think of the ditzy daughter on that treasure movie with Owen Wilson and Kate Hudson.. My brain isn't working anymore :-?

  • I've never even seen SOA and I give that one a side eye. That said, will it matter in 20 years? Probably not.
