Re: Nursing pillow!

  • I just used a couch throw pillow with my first 2 kids. Or a bed pillow, whatever was handy.

  • Check for local consignment sales.  There are always a ton of boppy pillows for sale at them.  Most consignment sales are held in the spring and early fall, so they are starting up again.

That said, most likely, you will need to get the nursing pillow that matches your pillow case that you bought.  I don't think my boppy pillow cases fit other pillows.

My community has a ton of fb swap pages and online garage sales. I love them and you can find some great things. It's worth a shot.
  • I second the pillow suggestion. I love my boppy, but a plush enough pillow really does the trick. I used both and I can't say that the times I used a pillow at night was a pain or anything.

  • I bought my boppy at Marshall's for $11 and bought a custom cover on etsy!
  • I nursed my first for 20 months and I absolutely swear by the Brest Friend pillow. They are often available at consignment shops.
  • I had a Boppy with DS which I plan to use again, but it worked best in bed or on the couch. I couldn't use it in my rocking chair because it didn't fit, and was super uncomfortable. Most of the time I actually just used a regular bed pillow, or the couch pillows.

Also, I know you said you'd prefer if it's not online, but I got an email from Everyday Family with a promo code for a free nursing pillow that is the same shape as a Boppy. You have to pay shipping (around $11 or $12), and I'm not sure how long it takes for delivery, but that's how I got my nursing cover.  PM me if you'd like to use my code and I can send you the info.

You might want to wait to make this investment. I found that normal pillows helped me at first, and by the time she was 2 months old, I was just holding her while I nursed. (You'd be surprised what a great nursing pillow your post partum stomach will be!). And by 8 months old? I was nursing her while cooking dinner. No time for a pillow! My boppy was used primarily to prop her up to watch a mobile or play with her.
  • I loved my boppy last time.  That thing was basically an extension of my person for the first few weeks.
