Hello everyone,

I have ordered some Instead Softcups after reading that they seem to help some people to conceive. Has anyone tried these puppies out and if so, any words of wisdom to share?

They should only be used for what they were made for -- they are a menstrual cup.

To OP - no just no. The swimmers know where there are going without any help.

Sperm know what they're doing, and they do what they were made to do. The only thing you are keeping in by using softcups after sex is semenal fluid which is useless. The sperm are already on their way, no need to keep the fluid in there.

For some reason you can't do it on The Bump. You have to do it on The Knot.

I had never even heard of this product. Have any of you tried this for your period and does it work? I'm intrigued.

Yes it's awesome for your period. You can wear them for 12 hours and the greatly reduce the risk or TSS (as compared to tampons). You can get them at Walmart. Some people think there is an ick factor as you have to grab it and pull it out, but they work great!!

@benicode I actually know a ton of people who use Soft Cups for their period and love it. It catches everything and you empty it several times a day. You save on waste as you just buy one. Here is a little info on how it works

I've been using a non-disposable menstrual cup for about 10 years and would never go back. I only know one person who used the Instead, and she found they didn't hold very much, but it may vary from woman to woman.

I just started using the diva cup for my period. I really don't see how it could help with conception anyway. Last time my period started, it was actually right after I had sex. So, when I put in the diva cup it was just a couple minutes after we had sex. I noticed of course that some seminal fluid had collected in the cup, but it was in the bottom of the cup; nowhere near my cervix. Plus, the diva cup sits far below your cervix, it is not supposed to be right up against it. So I cannot understand how it would help get sperm where it needs to go.

On a related note, I loved the diva cup for my period. It was awesome!

Since we are doing AI I have done TONS of research on different ways to inseminate. Instead cups have tried to get fda approval to relabel and market for ttc. I am not sure if it would be any help for the person ttgp the natural way, but it is used for those doing AI as a way to insem instead of using a syringe. Long story short, I have not heard of it helping those having sex, but it is beneficial to those who are doing things artificially.

So regarding the cup for AF, is it hard to get out/make a mess?

It took one or two tries to get used to, but I would never go back. It's easy to get in and out without even spilling anything (though I still do it over the toilet just in case). As someone who usually has super heavy periods, this thing has been a lifesaver. I have to empty it every 4 hours or so, but I can keep it in all night (all without having to do that awkward waddle to the toilet every hour or so as before).

I definitely recommend them.

I used them for AF for a while. I can't use them on heavy days but on medium/light days they are great.

Diva is just a bit different than the Softcups.Think more of a diagram but soft plastic..It sits right at the cervix.

I have a Meluna cup and I love love love it.So many people are against using cups though

To OP: Yes some people have used Softcups for conception but there is a risk for getting a UTI and honestly its more semen and dead sperm sitting there on your cervix while the healthy sperm is already making its way where it needs to go.

Softcups look like they might be a bit messier than the diva cup? I'm not sure how you would get those out without spilling blood.
I still don't think softcups will help you get knocked up though.

I went swimming with it no problem. I'm sure it would be fine with any workout except kegels. But maybe someone else has more experience.

I had never heard of these things until a few months ago when a friend put something on FB for the whole world to see. I thought that was a little much, but am glad to see this conversation here.

I've debated trying one but I worry about the "mess".

With the Diva cup, when I'm doing a particularly hard workout sometimes it gets pushed up a little further inside. Which is fine, but then my cervix will be poking down into the cup and taking up some of the space (I have a fairly short vagina and narrow/pointy cervix), so if it's a heavy flow day, it could cause a leak. Once I figured this out, I just started emptying it right before I work out - even if that means doing it at the gym (eww).

Super embarrassing but yeah..... I didn't put it in right and we went to Walmart and I could tell it was shifting because I could feel it and ran to the bathroom, I must have flexed the wrong way and it fell into the toilet at Walmart >.<

I bought a new one, thankfully I had a tampon on me. Had it happened in my bathroom I would have cleaned it, but no telling the germs in a Walmart bathroom.....

@ftrMrs0 I used my softcup when I ran both my half marathons with no problems or leaking or anything and I have super heavy periods. I want to change to one of the deeper cups because of my heavy bleeds, and for the first day or 2 of heavy flow I need to have a pad for leaks, but it is still far better than tampons!

I've been using a Lunette menstrual cup for AF for the past few months and I LOVE it! I have a really heavy flow (TMI), especially after I stopped taking BC and it makes my periods so much easier to manage. I will literally forget I'm on my period for a few hours. Not so sure about using them for TTC, but I definitely recommend them for use during AF. Better for the environment, better for your body, and really not very hard to get the hang of!

I used Softcups for a while for AF but I really prefer the reusable cups.Here is a pic of different kinds of those:They do take a little practice but once you get it right there is no going back Saves you tons of money on feminine products.
