How old can they be to use it? We have a 9 week old that has really strong neck muscles (he was pulling away from my chest in the hospital) and my husband wants to try it but I'm not sure if he's too little or not
We put my 8 week old in it last night. He's been holding his head up really well already. We just had to put a blanket behind him because he's small still. As long as they can hold their head up and you are sitting with them, I don't see anything wrong with using it.
I've been using my since about 7 or 8 weeks. Not for long periods of time, LO get tired, but enough to keep building those muscles. I've also started putting my LO in one of those activity saucers with a pillow behind him. He loves it.
Great idea to pair it with the activity mat! We got one because we noticed our daughter loved when she was carried and could see the world from another angle, and once we put her in the bumbo, the look on her face was precious!
The bumbo seat is awesome!! U can use it once your LO can hold their head up without any help or support.... It's nice since my LO likes to watch the TV once in a while.... I sat him in the bumbo and had it on the couch because of our TV being higher up on a stand, and I was right there beside him.... It's definitely one of the best things to have.
I'm just impressed with how well your babes are holding their heads up. My DS is 9 weeks and I would not feel comfortable trying our seat yet (mamas and papas - similar to the bumbo). I don't know if it's because he has such a big head (97th percentile) but I am worried he will never be able to manage it!!! He does great at tummy time (when he actually lets us do it without screaming) but hates when we try to get him to sit or stand (with support of course).
I'm hoping by 3 months we will be able to try out our seat. It also says its use is for 3 months and up so I wouldn't want to try it yet anyway.
I use it with my 8 week old daughter it's great when I'm home alone and want to eat I put her in it on the table and she watches me eat and I can eat with two hands lol. But I keep a close eye because she can't sit up on her own. But she can hold her head up. If your LO can hold their head up I don't see why you can't use it.

My sons in the 90th percentage too! He will get the hang of his big head!
Didn't even think of putting LO in this so young, but after seeing this topic I decided to give it a try and see if he was good in it. SO glad I did, he loves it!
Yes thanks for bringing this up! I'm bored with our daily routine and play options - it's nice to add something else to the mix. My LOs don't have great neck control yet but with some support, they really enjoyed their Bumbo time this morning. I think the positioning will help them build neck control, too!
Side note - my phone keeps trying to correct Bumbo to bimbo. I almost said that they enjoyed their bimbo time this morning lol
I wasn't sure we would need a bumbo but DD loves to sit up like a big girl and after reading all these posts I went out and got one today, can't wait to put her in it when we get home !
Super impressed by everyone's neck control!! My LO hates tummy time but loves sitting on our laps and holds her head up great. In the Bumbo, though, i still put a hand behind her head and she will rest on it for the most part. She loves the Bumbo but so far it doesn't do as much for neck development as just sitting on our laps.
Same here I didn't even think of the Bumbo yet for our 8 week until I read this! Her head strength has been really good so I thought I'd give it a try and she loves it! Think she was starting to get bored getting out in her Leachco pillow which has more then been the best thing ever the past eight weeks!
Adorable babies! Is it ok that they sit at such a young age? My mum and mil keep telling that she'll get back pain and she needs to lay flat unless she's being burped, i didn't look it up and started her swing and been taking 30 mins + car rides in her car seat anyway but did anyone look into it? Or is it that i have to choose between the swing and the chair?
Mine is 3 mo old and we've been using the bumbo since 11 weeks old. He does great! But he's also been holding his head steady since about 8 weeks. His new favorite thing is to stand with assistance!

Your Leachco pillow, is it the maternity snoogle? I know they can be used with babies too but wondering if any mom's use theirs and what positions work

I think anything is fine in moderation. My DS loves sitting up on my lap or trying to stand- he is getting sick of laying down all the time. Too much time in the swing/car seat/Bumbo seat/etc. is no good but your baby will be fine as long as they're not in any one "baby holder" excessively.

I don't know if the leachco pillow is the same as the snoogle, but I have the snoogle and I use it for bfing. I don't know how a baby would use it. I just wrap it around me so it's like a soft tray in the front and lay DD down on top of it.
I went and got a bumbo from the secondhand store after reading this post. DD likes it but if I put it on the floor she strains to look up at me. So if she's in it I have to put it on the table or somewhere where she's at least eye level with me.
