Bladder obstruction

Is anyone else dealing with this annoying and painful symptom? I'm 39w1d and bc of the babies head bopping between -1 and 0 station and being in the 77th percentile for size he ends up blocking my ability to pee and I end up with awful bladder spasms and trying to pee every 20-30min. I've required straight caths twice already for relief. It's usually a lot worse when I work since I do 12 hr shifts and can't lay down to reposition him. Anyone have any other suggestions to get more pee out? Luckily I haven't acquired an infection and I have an appt Friday to discuss possible induction.

Re: Bladder obstruction

  • No experience with this, but I hope you get some relief soon! Maybe bend forward as you pee? Or put your feet up on a step stool?

  • I haven't had issues to this extreme, but I have noticed that while I had to lean forward to pee early on, I now have to lean way back if I want to fully empty my bladder. It hasn't come to this yet (fortunately), but I've heard if all else fails laying down in a bathtub to pee can help you fully empty as it takes some of the baby weight off your bladder. Doesn't sound real pleasant, but more pleasant than another catheter... ouch...
  • I usually hold my belly and rock backwards to get it going but it literally sends shocks through my body when it spasms. Hopefully I'll see the light at the end of the tunnel after my appt Friday.
  • I lift up my stomach (as best as I can). It doesn't always help, but sometimes walking around does.
  • I generally sit and pee as much as I can, then I have to wad up some toilet paper, hold it between my legs, stand up, and pee as much as I can standing! I sometimes have to repeat this 2-3 times to get all the pee out.   Totally miserable process!  ~X(
