I have scheduled c-section on Friday at 330pm. My doctor told me if I woke up at 6am I could eat breakfast. Does anyone have suggestions on what to eat? Was anyone told what to eat or not eat by their OB?
I was in L&D at 5 pm and the doctor said that I couldn't eat anything once I became induced, which was 1 hour later. Also because there was a chance that I could have a csection. So I ended up not eating till after I delivered. They don't want you eating too early and too much before a csection because it could all come out :P
I had mind at 3pm last week, I was told nothing except clear liquids from midnight the night before until 7am the day of. Starting at 7am I could have nothing, not even a piece of gum or hard candy. I'd seriously consider not eating anything the day of. I vomited so violently after surgery I can't imagine how that would have felt if I had eaten. Best wishes!!
Eat very light . I was in induced labor and they let me eat . Well then I ended up having to go into a c section and they had to wait a while because the food can actual go back up into your lungs during surgery. But if you eat 8 hours before and eat light you should be fine.
Well.. I had an emergency c section.. But hadn't eaten all day because I was ill. They were glad I hadn't eaten in 6 plus hours. Lady across from me had an emergency c section as well but had eaten... Oh my lord I felt so bad for her. She just kept puking. So yes keep it light. Cereal? Toast? I personally wouldn't do bacon and eggs and waffles.
She was born at 10:51pm and the next morning they brought me eggs, sausage, grits, muffin and coffee. My first c section was clear liquid diet for the first day, color liquid the second. And then soft foods the third. And then solids the fourth.. So it was really different.
I was induced with my first at 8am and ended up with a c-section at 7:30 that night. I hadn't eaten all day either but threw up after the surgery. Having food in my stomach would've been worse I'm sure.

I ate a huge burger before my csection and was so worried. My water bag popped right after dinner. We were at the hospital by 8 and LO was here by 11. I was so worried about the big meal I had but everything went well. I would recommend eating something light for sure.
I'd have something light and something that's not a favorite of yours. I had a bagel a few hours before my water broke and several hours before my c-section. I was ill 6 or 7 times during labor and it was a while before I wanted to look at a bagel again!!
My C section was scheduled for 2pm but ended up being at 4pm. I was told only clear fluids after 7am. So I had a breakfast that would keep me going all day...eggs and smoked salmon on a bagel. I had been hanging out for smoked salmon for so long, figured it wasn't going to hurt now. It was soooo good. Was starving after the surgery and had missed dinner, but they eventually bought me some sandwiches.
Re: Afternoon C-section..breakfast?

Good luck!
