April 2016 Moms

Baby #2...

Hi Ladies!
I just got my BFP for baby number two (estimated 4/6)!  Our first born daughter is three (May baby) and this one was planned.   I'm a teacher and a wedding photographer so we were playing the date game as I already have weddings scheduled for March and May (and the May one is going to be amazing!) and this was best case.  Fingers crossed all goes as planned!
I'm sad I'll miss out on the rest of the summer fun.... but it's only 9 wee little months right?!
Any ladies out there do Group Power or Body Pump type classes?  Not sure if I should keep doing Group Power or hold off for a few weeks?  It's the motions like clean and jerks that make me nervous.  Otherwise I'm a lifter and a runner and am determined to NOT gain 65 pounds with this one.  DE-TER-MINED.
I look forward to "meeting" you ladies and wish you all a happy and healthy nine!!!

Hey, same EDD! I am a CrossFitter and was doing clean and jerks, front squats, and deadlifts in the past 24 hours since I confirmed my BFP :) My coaches have all been told (even before our families!) and will be keeping a watchful eye on me (like turning one of the industrial fans right on me during yesterdays workout). I think as long as those coaching or training you are aware you're pregnant and feel comfortable helping you modify as needed, keep at it! And get doctors approval of course.

Welcome and glad to have another "strong mom" here!

    Eta: I'm also a teacher!

    @imrachellea - Thanks!
Yeah I'm planning on telling my trainer (who oddly enough has been riding us to make baby number two, lol, as him and his wife, who sometimes works out with me, have two) tomorrow.  Thanks and def happy to have another strong momma on board!
On that note... how peculiar that upon leaving my OB this morning (coincidentally have annual scheduled today- got outta that sucker!) that the doctors were so psyched to have a healthy mom in the office!  LOL  Interesting huh?  Like totally made a big deal out of it, scary!

I had my annual scheduled for next week and had to cancel :-P I go to a practice with 4 ob/gyns and 2 midwives (I see them all during the 9 months since any of them could be on call during L&D) and with my last, some were just fine with CrossFit, others were wary but allowed it since I had no complications.

  • Hi and welcome! I do Group Power, but I'm not sure I am going to keep doing it. It's a lot of jumping on and off the step and such. Maybe if I modified it to be the lower impact it would be fine! And I too am DE-TER-MINED not to gain 60+ pounds this time too! I'm going to try to take at least a walk almost every day and continue to track calories in myfitnesspal (though switched my goals to maintain weight for now). I also have a 5k that I signed up for months ago that is mid-August. We'll see how I feel by then! I CANNOT gain that much weight back especially since I haven't lost it all from the first time (21 months ago)!

  • Congrats and Welcome!

I am also a teacher. I don't do group power but I do body pump and spinning classes. I don't plan on modifying much but I'm not sure how intense group power is compared to body pump. I am also determined to stay healthy and fit.It really helped me have a healthy and wonderful pregnancy last time. I hope the same is true with this one.

    Congrats.

Before i got pregnant I was in the process of losing weight by eating low carb, going to spin class and doing weight training. I am not trying to put back all the weight I have lost. I'm working with a trainer now to figure out how to modify my workouts for pregnancy. Hopefully I find something that can keep me happy and baby safe. Good Luck and welcome again

  • Hi girls,

I am officially joining the April 2016 group as we found out last night we are expecting our 2nd :). I was doing Kayla Itsines Beachbody workouts before we found out. I will most likely continue them as long as I'm feeling good. I will make sure I stretch really well pre and post workout and modify any as my pregnancy progresses that may require good balance (something I didn't have too great of pre-pregnancy!). Congrats to you all and good luck staying on the healthy, right track!
