Antibodies

Hello all,
Just wanted to introduce myself. I found this group today and wanted to tell my story.
I am a FTM, 9w6d and found out with my initial blood work that I have Anti-E and Anti-S antibodies. I will be going to a Maternal-Fetal Specialist on June 12 to find out more information. I was very happy to not hear my Dr too concerned. Apparently my numbers are extremely low, and the exposure has been some time. I have never had a blood transfusion so he is even puzzled as to how I contracted this. He said possibly from my birth, my mother and I are both 0- so it's possible she carried this as well I suppose.
Anywho, just wanted to put myself out there and greet any support from those going through similar experiences. It's never fun to find out that anything is wrong.

Re: Antibodies

  • Good luck. They will probably recommend rhogam at 28 wks and right after you deliver. They may also want to do MCA dopplers. I have c and d antibodies. Unfortunately I am sensitized and rhogam will not work for me. I am 6wks today and have my first MFM appointment tomorrow. If you have questions just ask. I went through this with my last pregnancy. Good luck.

  • I have antibody E also. I have to get tested every 4 weeks to make sure my numbers don't rise. I go back tomorrow for my 3rd test. No one has ever heard of this. Even when I go to the hospital lab to have my blood drawn I can hear the lab techs asking what it is. I have never had a blood transfusion either and I am A+. Dr said there is no shot to help since it's not very common. Rhogam won't help with Anti E. Last two tests my # was 4 so it's well under the 16 where he is concerned.
  • Hello I am O- and RH- I found out at my 7 week appointment that I had already sensitized and that the Rhogam shot will not be effective. This is my 2nd pregnancy. My son is 12. He had complications in the form of severe Jaundice and his bilirubin count at birth was 25.5. Luckily the light therapy worked for him but it was a very scary situation. Now with this pregnancy, I have to go to a specialist every 2 weeks and monitor the baby's anemia levels in uterus. If her levels get higher than 150 we will be admitted to the hospital and they will proceed to do a Blood transfusion to her in uterus. Both of my grandmothers are O- RH- as well as one of my cousin. My cousin had to have the in uterus blood transfusion with her 3rd pregnancy (which is normally when the highest complications arise with the RH- issues). I have been told since I sensitized so early it would be best to not have anymore children after this one. So I will be getting my tubes tied after this miracle baby.
