Healthy Living Checkin?

Would anyone be interested in participating in a weekly healthy living check in? I am pretty active now and try to eat well so I want to do my best to continue throughout pregnancy. My last pregnancy I did my best but I think I could do better. I feel SO much better mentally and physically when I'm exercising and eating well. I was thinking of maybe planned workouts, meal plan, rants/raves, etc.

Anyone interested? Any additional ideas/suggestions? Once or twice a week?

I would love to participate. With my digestive system slowing down to almost nothing I feel worst than what I did when I was eating junk all day. Do you have any devices like Fitbit or a polar watch?

  • I think its a great idea. I'm so exhausted right now, but hope to get back to the gym soon. I'm hoping exercise will help with feeling so tired. I think it would be helpful to share different exercise tips, and meal plans/recipes. I eat pretty healthy, but would love to try new recipes!
  • I would love this too! I gained 60+ lbs last time, didn't exercise, and basically used the pregnancy as an excuse to eat whatever I wanted. NOT THIS TIME!

I actually started typing this out as a suggestion yesterday and got distracted! I'm so in. I'm actually writing this from my CrossFit box having just finished today's workout!

I gained 45 lbs with my last oregnancy, ugh, and I'm starting out 10 lbs heavier than I started last time. I hope to gain no more than 20-lbs this time, logical because I am overweight for my height.

I have a polar heart rate monitor I used when I was trying to lose weight. I don't use it anymore since I have a typical calorie range that I fall into depending on the class. I used to my fitness pal as well. That worked really well for me. I might use it again (not to lose weight but to see if I'm hitting my protein, limiting sugar, etc.)

  • I'm interested as well. I'm already slacking off of my usual workout routine because I feel tired and achy. I could really use some motivation.

  • Would love to participate! I just got back into a regular fitness routine a couple weeks ago, just about when we found out we were pregnant again, and I don't want to slack off too much. Great idea! We could try once a week check in and see if that's enough accountability or start with two days and see if that feels like too much. Right now I am doing an accountability group on facebook and we check in daily.

I think twice a week would be a good ideal. The beginning to post meals we have planned for the week, a recap from the end of the previous week and stuff like that and the middle to help get through the rest of the current week if that makes sense

I love this idea! I am hoping to maintain my workouts through out my pregnancy but will definitely need some accountability.
  • I'm in! I was a bikini competitor pre pregnancy and hope to compete again within a year of having this babe, so Im all for a check in a couple times a week!

    3 miscarriages - 1 DS (6) - 1 DD (3)  - #3 due March 30!

  • Also in! 65+ gained with number one here! And then I lost 80!! LOL it was not easy and I'm not going to do it again!!! Big difference this time is we are really clean eaters now and I'm gluten free, so I'm very interested in seeing where this takes me with number two!
  • I love this idea, please do!  I need to get back into working out too.
  • I'd love to! I'm a vegetarian, a runner and do Baby Boot Camp. Usually I workout 6 days a week, but I'm losing motivation. I'm supposed to be running a half on 9/19, but I'm second guessing it.

I did Baby Boot Camp with my first DS! I loved it! They don't have a location that is close enough for me now and I doubt my son would cooperate at this age but it was great when he was younger.

Baby Boot Camp is the best! I made my best mom friends there. BBC is the only reason I'm considering getting a double stroller!

  • I'm in!  I'm an active person and workout every day (usually pretty intense) but don't want to over-do or under-do during my pregnancy (this is my first - so I have all the normal anxieties about everything I do hurting the baby!)
  • I am in! This is our first and have been working so hard to be a healthy pre-momma over the past year knowing this was in the plan for the year! I work as a wellness coach to help people lose weight and maintain weight but gaining healthy weight is so foreign to me. I am also so clueless when it comes to exercise but today was day one of getting into a routine with some workouts I found on Pinterest for expecting moms!! Shooting for a healthy pregnancy and excited to work with you all!!!
  • Yes please!! I lost 45 pounds pre baby, then gained 65.. not my finest moment. BUT i lost all minus 5 pounds, and I'm determined not to do it again this time! This time I won't have the ability to lounge as much since my son will be 22 months when the baby is born and I'll have to chase him around!
  • Sunday Check in Week 1:
Hello everyone. I hope your week went well and everyone is feeling well!

    Goals:
-Grocery Shopping Sunday's will continue to be my goal do that I have everything I need for the week to eat and snack healthy. This is what I did for weight loss/management and this helped a lot so I didn't stray from my goals and I believe will help for a healthy pregnancy.
-Adjusted 3x this week (I work at a chiropractic office so this helps my bodies needed frequency!)
-wake up at 5am for my workouts
-get a book to read (anyone have one they love??!)

My breakfasts have either been 1 whole cage free egg and 3 egg whites over mashed or sliced avocado with 1 cup of berries -or- a protein shake with Dynamic Greens + side of fruit

Meal plan for dinners(I have a lot of these recipes on my Pinterest page):
    Monday: Mexican Meatza + Salad
Tuesday: Greek Stuffed Chicken + Salad + Sweet Potato
Wednesday: Cauliflowr Shepards Pie + Salad
Thursday: Pizza and Salad (having best man and MOH over to announce :) )
Friday: Green Olive Stuffed Cheese Burgers w/rutabaga fries + Salad
Saturday: Baked Ham + Sweet potato + Salad

    My snacks:
-mixed nuts(pecans, cashews, walnuts, almonds), large unsweetened coconut flakes, raw sunflower seeds + chia seeds mixed with cinnamon and sea salt
-Larabar(pecan pie, cashew cookie, apple pie)
-Spinach avocado dip w/raw veggies(carrots, broccoli, cucumbers, cauliflower)
    -Sliced hard cheese/cheese stick
    -2 hard boiled eggs
-plain Greek yogurt with chia seeds and liquid mixed berry stevia
    -chia seed pudding w/blueberries
    -protein shake w/ Dynamic Greens
    -Banana or Granny Smith Apple
    -Salad

    Workouts:
    Walk 1-2 miles daily
    3x a week weights
    2x a week yoga video
    Stretch off days

really not sure what core exercises I can do without concern. I have a stability ball but it's a purchase since the news. any suggestions there. exercise isn't my forte so just trying to keep moving.

Rant: Really fatigued! pushing through it and napping a lot. my garden is really suffering!

Love this group! can't wait to read everyone's plans! if anyone wants a recipe let me know! I don't do processed foods unless it's a splurge and stick to low glycemic for overall health.
  • I too love this idea.  I gained 50lbs with DD then lost 70lbs but I ate a lot less healthy my first pregnancy than I do now.  I can always use something to help me stay on track.
