I have a *3* year old baby cousin with cancer who can't even go to the park because people aren't vaccinating their children and it puts her right in the line of fire to contract a deadly illness. OP, look up the DisneyLand issues that just happened this year. I think it was around 60 or so kids were infected with a preventable disease all because of people choosing to not vaccinate their kid. Many of those infected were due to the kids being too young to be vaccinated.
I was there that week and had purchased a Minnie mouse onesie for my friends newborn daughter. If the news had broken any later, I could have potentially exposed a week old infant to that. Instead, I kept it past the incubation period and had it cleaned.
I am a Certified Nurse Assistant. I just graduated training at the Red Cross in January so I am very new to healthcare. We never learned anything about vaccines and I've never learned anything about them in school prior to that. I don't know why I never learned anything about vaccines except that I've never done the research. Yes, that's my fault but certainly not a deal breaker. I am learning about it now. It's no different from my just having learned about temping. Also, I'm not from California.
Look guys, I just thought I would follow in my Mom's footsteps but it wasn't set in stone. I didn't even know it was an issue until the first poster said something about it. I don't even have an argument about it. I'm really trying here to explain myself and to see through my hurt emotions (brush them off). If that means I'm embarrassing myself, then so be it if it helps you to understand who I am.

I have MS and Colitis so I know all about having a compromised immune system. I thought I was clear that I was trying to learn about a controversial topic, but apparently I wasn't clear enough.
I have never given vaccines much thought since I cannot get them myself and I've only recently started thinking about it since I am new to TTC. I thought women here would understand that and be respectful about my willingness and open mind to learn about something.

The uproar probably stems from the fact that when a parent decides to not vaccinate their child it also affects thousands of other children they come into contact with. Because most people take their child's health pretty damn seriously. Everyone has provided you with good information and also told you how to find more information. So stop coming on here playing dumb saying you know nothing about vaccines and go do some research! And please, FFS, vaccinate your children according to the appropriate schedule.

In the original GTKY post you answered the question about vaccines with "No not until they are of a certain age." People disagreed (strongly) with this. You then started a separate thread to "hash it out" ... but then say that people are making assumptions about you, that you don't know enough about vaccines to make a decision.

Also I did call the behaviour selfish. That is because I am allergic to a vaccine and depend on others being immune to it to keep me from getting sick and dying. When you do not vaccinate a child, you not only put that child at risk of being sick, you put me at risk. You put my family at risk, especially my father who has ALS and no longer has a normal immune system. I am allergic to the meningococcal vaccine. I am also allergic to the main medicines used to treat it. However my immune system could fight it- it would be a death sentence for my father. Do you see how I take a very dim view of that?
As I said originally childhood diseases won't wait for your children to be of school age to infect them. I simply don't understand why you would risk their lives, my life and people like my father's life.
I would point you in the direction of previous posters who have given you information about vaccines and childhood diseases. If you haven't heard about the Disney outbreak then maybe you should be paying more attention- it made headlines around the world. Measles is so contagious that some people had exposures by simply sitting in the same waiting room hours after someone who had tested positive for the disease. They had to go into isolation for 21 days. This stuff is really serious and can ruin your life. This is not a case where ignorance is bliss- you need to educate yourself.
