Crying Immediately After Feeding

Sorry if this has already been posted, I can't remember. Does anyone else's LO cry the second they stop eating? My DS cries almost immediately after he finishes eating practically every time. I'm EBF and I offer again after burping. He will latch for another minute usually and then pull off. But then sometimes he will go for another 5 minutes (he's a fast nurser - usually only 5 minutes).

He calms down as soon as I put him on the change table or in the crib and then he's smiley immediately. I feel bad because I never know if he's crying because of gas, that he's full, or still hungry!!! So I keep offering food and burping until I get frustrated and just lay him down. And then he's happy as can be!!! Sigh. Anyone else?

    Yep. My little one does exactly this. Our pediatrician said it was just a "phase" because they are comforted by the bottle/breast.

    Mine occasionally does this. Sometimes I offer a paci and he'll take it. Maybe he just wants something to suck on after that doesn't have food coming out of it? :)

    Stupid question but does your LO still burp with a soother in? I wasn't sure if that would make it harder for him to burp...

    Hmm. I don't know. I burp before giving him the paci. I think if he were upright and still had to burp that it would probably come out eventually, even with the paci in.

    Thanks! I guess I need to just be more patient. Hopefully this crying stops soon. It breaks my heart when I don't know what he wants.

    This happened to me for about a week, then he stopped. It's probably just a phase. I was really confused by it also. Glad it's over now.

    @TBsquared - mine definitely is. He often pulls off immediately because of my strong letdown. This morning we fought for 8 minutes because it was coming too fast. I would try to take him off to express some into the burp cloth but then he'd scream about being hungry. It all ended with a giant poop explosion which was likely unrelated or else he did it in protest for his bad feeding!

    This has been happening with me too. So I usually just keep feeding him til he's happy. But now I'm back to doing 10 minutes each side. Or I toss him to daddy or put him on the play mat and then he's content. Lol. If he is truly hungry he would let me know. Just shows our babies like their mamas! Feel good about this! Haha

    My LO was constantly doing that as well. I finally realized he wasn't getting enough from breast feeding. I am still doing that but I have to supplement with formula. Because before we started doing the formula he was crying all the time and I would put him back on the breast but he was still fussy.

    My 10 week old does this too and has been for a while. as soon as I take her bottle away she screams and cries, I put it down to possibly wind or the fact I've taken the bottle away. Someone mentioned it's a comfort thing and I think that could be it as when I burp her I then put her dummy in and she's all calm again. Not nice to hear or see though as its a proper cry with the bottom lip out :( x
